Well I don't know where you live but here in Quebec we can put turbos and stretched tires as long as they don't touch the fenders!

Of course it sounds cool, but so does a turbo, which also makes more power. Very cool none the less.

Do you know how they work and what the advantages and disadvantages of each are?

turbo makes more horsepower do to the compressor, cooling, etc. itb's give a MUCH quicker throttle response, more evenly distributed power etc.

slap a turbine on each side of this motor, couple the itb's with it, you will get incredible response, sound, and overall badassness.

I've been dealing with all the above for well over 10 years. From Next Level, to Hypersports, to Atomics. This has been my line of work for quite some time. From supercharged mustangs to huge single turbine Supras to ITB 4AG's. From your previous responses I gather you wanted credentials, not an answer.

Then you should know that turbos aren't better or worse than superchargers. It all depends on the application. If turbos are better then superchargers then why don't they use them on top fuel drag cars which are pushing 7000hp.

Holy apples and oranges Batman!
How many of us will put a 14-71 supercharger on our VIP car, hell, any street car for that matter? It's just silly to use as an example. It's like saying why don't you strap that solid rocket booster to your civic? Both supply an immense amount of power, but only last a few seconds. Are we building race cars here or VIP cars?

Turbos are better for me and my applications. Go on with your supercharger if you want to...but seriously, for the street..turbos are where its' at. Why do the fastest production cars use turbos? I mean besides drag racing how often do you see superchargers used in racing rather than turbos? I have an appreciation for both and have owned both...they are both fun, but turbos just have a pull unlike anything else.

Not to mention turbos use the expansion of exhaust gases to produce power that otherwise would just be exiting out your tail pipe when your using more power where you would be putting your engine under more strain/load to turn any supercharger. There are endless combinations of turbo/sc applications out there. In my opinion individual throttle bodies into a spacious manifold (like BMW ///M engines) with single or twin turbo is the way to go.

As far as that top fuel nonsense, I hope everybody realizes that halfway down the track that engine is already toast and must be completely rebuilt (if there is even anything salvagable left in it) after every single pass. Whats the use of a motor that lasts less than 10 seconds?....

On the other hand there are pleanty of turbo & supercharged vehicles out there that have been fairly reliable and put down impressive numbers as well. The owner of Forced Air Tech drives a 2.5L STi that is twin GT35 turbocharged AND uses an AMG roots type supercharger which can be turned on or off via a clutch on the pulley. Last time I heard the car was making ~790hp with the supercharger off and somewhere approaching the 1000hp range with it on and at max boost. Pretty amazing for two and a half liters.

I read that ITBs are like a final step to NA tuning...not something you can do right off the bat.

What are the pros, cons, and tricks to ITB tuning? Just out of curiousity.
