How wide can I go...
First, Sorry for double-posting, I thought no body might read it in How-to's...
Hi,
I'm trying to lower, do fender rolling and wider rims, but cant decide how much wide to go and how much will be allowed due spacing between tyre & suspension. I have seen rims with deep concave and lips, but I don't understand how they did it. I know some camber and toe setting are involved. But what settings are those.
As for wider, some say 8 inches is the max, others say 8.5, some say you can even fit 9.5 with proper camber settings.
This is for a Civic 2006 FD 1 Asian Edition.
This is my inspiration: http://postimage.org/image/fd942xnhf/
Any body willing to help a newbie.
Thank You

I don't think many people here know about civics.
Anyway...the one on the picture is has a wide body.
What I suggest is: roll your fenders, get a wheel with the same diameter as you plan to put, and measure the distance to the fender. Knowing the wheels offset and width, you can calculate what is the max wheel that would fit on your car. Also: take a look at the back of the wheel and see if you have enough space there, so when lowering the car, wheel wouldn't hit anything.

Sir, Im not talking about the rim diameter, I know 18/19 can fit, but Im talking about rim width, on the rear specially to run staggered fitments...Thank You

he's referring to mounting up some really wide aggressive offset wheels and then cutting/pulling/welding the body fender panels around it, then smooth it all out and paint. usually what guys do around these parts to fit wheels like that.
but yeah just do some research and you should be able to find what others have fit and then just go from there.

dude, that's what I´m talking about. You will get the distance to the rolled fender and thats it: you can calculate the max offset and max width for your future wheels. Just take the wheel with the right diameter, because 18´´ and 19´´ are different offset wise. You can put 18s with a little lower offset than 19s.

ThanX for the reply, but I don't understand the cutting, Pulling & Welding, if any pictures might help..
I seriously have no idea...I only know about fender rolling...if somebody has done it step by step...

Basically cutting off parts of the fenders and recreating/reshaping them out of sheet metal to fit the wheels...
So you can see what kinda work we're talking about:
Of course every car is built differently, and I suspect this is only having the rear quarter replaced because of rust repair, but the same principles apply.

I used to own a '08 civic si sedan fa5 basically the US version of your car. I had 18x9+25 with just a simple fender roll, stretched tires, and a good amount of camber with no issues. My buddy has the same chassis car and he is running 18x9.5+25 with the same set up just rolled fenders
here's my buddy's bagged SI on 18x9.5+25 all around rotiform nues

ThanX so much, I just don't understand the camber settings, I spoke to the guys, they told me its up to the camber kit you buy, that will allow different types of settings, does this mean there are more than 1 type of camber kits, if so how do I find the appropriate ones...
Please don't get me wrong, trying to get as much as from online as possible, cause where I stay, its juts not possible to get all this done, so Im trying to get information sourced on how to get it don't what all to tell to the guys doing it...
Much Much ThanX again...
again how to go about, add rims first or add fender rolling first, cause if I fender roll first, then I don't know how wide rims to add and if wide rims wont fit, what would be the point...
ThanX..People...

Well as much as I hate beating a dead horse... borrow some rims to test out how much clearance you have with said specs(width/ET) to fenders etc, then with that you can start calculating how much bodywork will need to be done and/or camber added to fit some aggressive spec'ed wheels. Can't say anything about what susp parts to get or how to setup your suspension 'cuz I haven't never fiddled with Civic nor been interested in em =)
If you can't buy something off the shelf (or Ebay) then engineer and build it yourself, but I have a feeling that it shouldn't be a problem with Hondas...

As stated by Silos5 earlier, you can roll the fender then measure the space between the rims and fender after you roll it so you know how much room you have to work with. After you've gotten all that figured out, you'll be able to to calculate width and offset to see if you have enough room to fit. Check this link
http://www.vipstylecars.com/forums/showthread.php?13074-Wheel-Offset-101
Other option is you can buy the wheel of your choice and work your fenders to fit them.

Is he running any stretched tyres front or back ?, Im planning ot get 19x8.5 Front and 19x9.5 on the rear for concavity, would running stretched be same as running low profile tyres with small side walls ?
Im stuck between deciding:
Stance SC-5 & AvanteGarde M550, Anybody willing to lend me a hand ?
Both the rims have an option to choose ET, can I know why is that and which should I choose the low offset or the high one ? The rim rim company is saying to choose the highest ?
Thank You

if you want you wheels to be close to the fenders, you MUST run stretched tires. As you are told, 18x9.5+25 all around will fit..so stick to this. 8.5 front is weak, even for a civic.

That is the thing, I do want fenders close to the tyres but not that there is a couple of cm distance, due to the roads where I stay having bumps bit bigger, I'm planning to keep a distance of at least 0.25 - 0.5 inch for the suspension, will I still need stretched ones...And I don't need negative cambers neither on the front nor the back...I need them straight vertically...ThanX All...

camber is what causes the wheels to angle in or to be straight, it doesn't lower the car. the cars you see like this below have a lot of negative camber, you prolly want something like -5 to -4 depending...

There's always going to be some negative camber naturally from lowering it.

KO, Im getting confused here, is a Camber to AVOID or ALLOW bending tyres [negative/positive camber], I know that shocks lower the car, cause I need the fender close to the tyres but not too deep inside, don't need the tyres sticking so close to the fenders, acceptable: http://fittedlife.com/flushed-out-335i/ / also I don't understand how the tyres go inside the fenders, which, a little bit inside, is KO and I would take it like it like that ?, but how do they achieve it ?

camber has nothng to do woth the stretched tires. Dont even think about the camber, you dont need it !!Just get the wheels you want with offsets/width close to those that were given to you on the 1st page, then write here what you bought and guys will advice what tires to put to run safe...thats it !!if you go 19x9.5 +35 then I´m sure 225/35/18 would be OK!

the advise was about 18 inch wheels.
[h=2]SC-5ive Matte Black[/h]19x9,5
5X114.3 OFFSETS: +35/+40/+20
I would advise you to choose +35.
BUT - you need to roll your fenders, it is the easiest/cheapest way to make wheels fit.

Checked SC-5, outta stock, thus I opted for:
Stance SC-6 Matte Black
19x8.5 +35 fronts
19x9.5 +38 rears
Fender Rolling, sure will do...

KO, so its the finale, can anybody help me choose between the 4:
While Mirabeu are cheap, the design is good, but I'm afraid they might not be as concave as I think. As for the rest of the 3, its getting hard to decide, I definitely would have picked Stance SC-5 if the spokes were like the SC-6, this is where the M550 wins, but M550 don't have Matte Black in 5x114.3. Tough to decide Prices per set, staggered setup from Preferred Customs.

Thank You.
I've seen 18x10.5 +20 on a civic sedan, you can fit most wheels, depending on how much work you are willing to put in.

Agreed,
This is what I just found after getting my car tested for fitment, they told me, that the 9.5 [rear only] will kill the axle over time, specially when people are sitting on the back seats and there will also be rubbing involved with weight on bumps, so in this case I understood the following, that everybody who does Stance, has to compromise with the 2 mentioned points, have axle changed every year or 2 and keep too hard dampening to maximize strong bounce when on bumps, unless there is something I'm missing...now either stance people don't allow any passengers on the rear or change axle and other suspension components...when done killing the shocks, axle etc...
And also I don't know how much fender pulling will help, as the current width of the rim is 6.25 +/-, 9.5 on the rear will be like 3 inches out and I don't know if that much of fender can be pulled out....
ThanX

dude. just keep your car stock
you have been given tons of information and choose not to adhere to any of it. This is not an exact science. And yes, over time with any type of car modification, you will break/wear out shit. charge it to the game playa!

I do understand your frustration, but not that I do not adhere to these instructions, where I stay, UAE, nobody does these here, Stance/VIP styles, so from what I know to get it done at least I must know as much as possible, so I can get it done....
I know it kind of getting impatient, but please bear with me, for, may be, some more time, it'll be over sooner that one can think....
No disrespect or time wasting was ever intended.
Thank You

TryllZ, dont trust those guys who tell you all that bullshit about broken axels and shit. These guyshave no experience. Its the same as you bring the 245/35 tyres for a 11 inch wide wheel. They will tell you its a wrong tyre size. But we know its not !! So, get the wheels you like with offsets and width givven on a previous page. good luck!!

you say nobody does it in the UAE but on the Club Lexus (CL) forums there were two guys who had LS430's on there and they always put up pictures of small little meets with other LS430's (celsior in japan) and most of them were vip if not semi vip with wide rims, lowered, and with some camber... so yeah there are obviously a few people who know about the style out there and a shop or two that is doing some of this work. sounds to me like you are at the wrong car shop first of all. maybe try asking around to different shops to see if any of them have experience with this type of stuff.

Sir, I stay here I know how it works, they do it illegally, they stay in rural areas, its not totally legal here, specially for drops and camber, as far as I'm concerned, I just go legit, they would never tell you, cause the shops are on the risk of getting clampdown as the word spreads, and authorities are swift at response, So yes, gtz-forum, uaeboost, evolve etc, I know about them too. I'm already on them & started off there, this was the first response there, ARE YOU STUPID, JUST PUT ON RIMS & BE DONW WITH IT, thats when I searched, searched and searched and found this site.
Everybody there got off rambling, this & that crap, and nobody is in for lending a hand, anyway, I'm close to getting started, as I have finally found the sources...
Thank You All...HOPE I MIGHT NOT HAVE TO COME BACK, AND IT ALL GOES WELL....NO DISRESPECT..

We all have been there bro, nearly every of the mainstream car forums generally frown on these sort of modifications. That's what makes this "niche" forum and scene fun =)
And no matter where in the world you are these things are "always" on the gray side from a legal stand point. For example many parts of Europe the local authorities would deem these cars unroadworthy and slap a hefty fine on top of that =)

Hey yall, I'm back, just had a small question...
its about the camber kit setup, the question is what all is required when setting up camber, camber plates, control arms etc..
I checked with the RavSpec, they told with the selected rims camber will be negative, and the following needs be done: camber plates & rear adjustable control arms needs be added.
Can I know whats the purpose of these, and are these components for specific cars or any in general can be used, as I have seen long types and curved types as well, unless I'm missing somethings....
I need to search in my area for this so Im trying to get to know what I need, business as usual ?
ThanX all......
