ATTN: AIR SUSPENSION CARS>> Do you guys dd your cars?

Hey guys! Im planning to get basic air suspension for my MB W210. Since my Wald bodykit is too low, its hard for me to daily drive the car. I need something i could raise my car up and down, especially when having my car serviced or pulling in the driveway:mad: . This car shop in LA area quoted me $2.5-3.5k for basic air suspension installed with warranty. My question is it hard to daily drive the car with an air suspension? Any suggestions? Does anyone here dd their cars? hows the ride quality also? Thanks!

I have universal air on my daily driver.....100 miles a day. Easy to drive....i lift it up for steep driveways and the ride is good to me.... gets even better when i pile more peeps in da ride.

What kind of system are you getting for that price? That seems a bit low if its installed and warrantied. Find out about the bags, valves, line sizes, etc. Poor parts = poor ride qaulity.

Why not ask them for a parts list, so you can research what they are using? It's not gonna hurt anything, just to see if you are getting a good deal or not. Better to be safe than sorry!

i used to drive daily bagged with my s-dime and xb. ride quatliy= depends on what kinda setup you get and pressure you run. as for the people installing,,they better know what they're doing because its gonna suck being stuck on the side of the road with a blown bag or a car stuck in your garage because of leaks. check to see how long that shop is going to take also because they usually take a long long time for some reason..people that know what they're doing can do a bolt-on type setup within a couple nights or even less depending how knowledgable. i used to drive my s10 to the beach and go on the sand so as long as you treat your bags right, it'll treat you good in return...in other words dont abuse the crap out of your bags cuz it'll probably leak or something.

Previa daily driving on air runner. It is fine but the rear shocks arent too great therefore it is bouncy at times. My front were bolt on but the rear bags had to be welded. So it depends on your setup. Plus with any car u want to make sure that u do it right if not u pay more in the long run especially with a european car.

good thread. I'm getting air in the next few months (had some finances to take care of) and I daily my car. I got quoted 1800 shipped for a universal air kit and I have some mini-truck friends who know how to install. I'm pretty damn low right now but I wanna be muchh lower :)

Airrunner is not all that great. Does not go low enough and cheap management. Plus you can build a way better system for a 1/3 or airrunner price.

air runners do get pretty low on the rears but not low enough on the fronts..but on ls's i heard it has something to do w/ the suspension binding so i'm guessing if u fix that problem, it'll drop lower..don't know about other vehicles..i wouldn't say "cheap" management based on the quality and reliability of the management system..the air runner kit is pretty expensive and ur pretty much just paying for the struts..the air management is of pretty good quality but isnt an air runner brand..u can get everything in this kit somewhere else for a cheaper price..overall though, if ur not familiar w/ air suspension, i'd suggest u go w/ airrunners..its easier to install, all bolt on, and is pretty reliable..ask the shop what brand of air strut they are using..and ask them to list the air management setup they will install..then we can tell u if its a good price or not

"cheap" management??? Besides the struts, everything is pretty much Firestone (guages, tank, compressor, etc.). And the Air Bomber Japan kits were using Viair if I'm not mistaken. So just curious, what air setup can you build that is "way better" than air runner and 1/3 of the cost? :p I don't know. This is pretty low for me.

Well, I think people consider air runner's management setup "cheap" because the basic kits just come with the manaul paddle switches, as opposed to an electric valve setup. But then again, I'd rather use manual paddles than an electric setup consisting of who knows what manufacturer valves all teed together with brass fittings and taking up a couple square feet of space looking like plumbing fixtures you find behind the wall of your bathroom all controlled by chinese-made switch boxes, etc. etc.. But compared to good electric management, then yes, the manual sorta loses. There's no doubt that air runner's stuff is a bit expensive for what you get, but quality relative to what else is out there is good enough to make it worthwhile for a lot of people who don't want to mess around with any DIYing to get.

Mike,

Is that the lowest setting for the Air Runner in the front for the EGG? Maybe it is the shadow....you have that little stock lip on the front as well correct? Currently with my TEIN Coil-over set up at full low the front is about an Nextel 730 off the ground. So with a bag set up I would not get any lower? Basically going to pay for ability to raise my ride up to clear obstacles? I was hoping that with air you could atleast lay the front on the ground. But I guess nothing a full aero kit can't fix. With a kit most def the front will be on the ground. Also in that pics is the rear all the way down as well?

theres nothing wrong with air runner..its not "cheap management" its good quality parts ..just priced a lot higher than i could get them for...for someone who is not familiar with airbags, airrunner is the best kit hands down..great parts, great package, and very reliable..

I'm not sure I would call it the best kit, alot of the pieces are cheap and there is better stuff out there. It's just about as reliable as any other air setup. I wouldn't see why it would be any different. Alot of people hype it up and yes its a good kit you can buy off the shelf, but there is stuff that I don't like about it.

In my opinion it is worth paying the price for the strut itself. The other parts aren't much if you want to replace them.

Please explain. What 'pieces are cheap' and what is the so-called 'better stuff out there?' Just trying to understand where you're coming from. Also, I wouldn't say 'It's just about as reliable as any other air setup.' So airbagit is reliable.

Please explain. What 'pieces are cheap' and what is the so-called 'better stuff out there?' Just trying to understand where you're coming from. Also, I wouldn't say 'It's just about as reliable as any other air setup.' So airbagit is reliable.

I believe V8_Aristo is using Easy Street Air if I'm not mistaken.

i dont know what your talking about. i never had to replace or had nay problems with my airrunner and the parts it came with. ive been driving on airrunner for about 1 1/2 years. never leaked. even if i would top it off and let my car sit for a week. i used to leave my car outside with a cover and never lost any pressure.

For most people on here probably not. Their definition of low low is tucking rim front and rear and laying frame.

IMO that is low enough.

the fender barely touching the rim is as low as it should go, it looks best that way.

if you look at XK-y33's, it looked best when he has it at a certain height, all even front and rear.
