work vs kf 5-114.3 18x8 +38 all around silver. they are in ok condition. 2 wheels powder coat peeling. one lip has corrosion. no bends. these are welded. located in san diego

I can probably do that. It's a PITA. But definitely possible. Key is finding a metal supply store and getting the specifically labeled Aluminum cutting and grinding disks.

If I had thought about it when I was doing it, it would have been way easier to do a write up with pictures. Barrels are at PCer and lips are at the polisher at the moment. New lips are getting brushed and cleared for the KF's.
Simple step by step. Take a thick grinding disk and get as much slag out as you can without digging into the lip or barrel. Then take a thin cutting disk and cut right down the middle. Its all a "feel" or knowledge based depth though, so start shallow and work your way down, the last wheel will be easier than the first. As you take a little more and a little more out with each cut, take a hardened steel wedge(I happen to be lucky and have an old guy near by that owns a machine shop with any sort of tool for metal working I can imagine, and loves what I do with wheels and air ride.) Bang the steel wedge through the cut, if you see the wheel begin to split after a couple smacks with a large hammer on the wedge, work your way around until the wheel comes apart. If not, cut a little deeper.
Once all the halves are split, get a 4" or 4.5" grinder, whichever you have and 60 grit flapper wheel on it. reshape all the edges that you cut. Try to take off as LITTLE material as you can all while removing as many if not all cuts and gouges around. Wheel silicone should have no issue resealing around some light nicks and such as long as after the edges are reshaped they are thoroughly wire brushed and cleaned.
