1999 Q45T WITH LS TURBO REALLY

Alright small intro for myself, 

I'm Thomas, currently building the first ever LS Q45 6 speed as well. OH BOY, and it'll be turbo. ITS definitely happening so hate if you will. Whatever I custom FAB for this car will also be offered to the community at some point. Be making camber plates, arms, etc. SECRETS will keep you guys interested. If its not already interesting you must be gay. no offense to gays.

It's been about 3 months since I got the car so I figured I have enough info to start and build thread. Lots of custom shizzz going on this car. fullly built to the fullest dude.

I picked up the car for about $850 WHAT A STEAL(For some reason smileys don't work I'm on firefox btw)
Her she is, only picture I got cause I stripped her immediately after. I drove it home she was running but she blow so much smoke like I'd probably pass out if i stood next to the exhaust for 10secs.

With the money spent on the trans, why did you cheap out and not look for a LQ4 (6.0L) instead of a LM7(5.3L)?
You'd have to do machine work on the LM7 to get a decent head.

I like the lm7 since the compression on the block is very desirable for low boost. The lq4 was also a pain to source. It is fairly overpriced in my area as well. So 5.3L was good enough for me. ahaha. 

spending the money to build(ARP hardware, full rebuild, machine work)this 5.3L would be cheaper than getting a 6.0L.

I gotcha. I was curious since you're paying that much for the trans.  Figured you'd go all out lol.  

What size turbo are you planing on running?

just a fairly large t4, comp .70 and turbine .50

May need to upgrade this though, but it what i have lying around. But my motor is at the machine shop getting a full makeover, upgraded ls9 cam, new lifters and valve spring, corvette/camaro acessories, forged pistons, going through the details tomm with JMS Racing engines.

Since the engine is out I was like this would be a good time to tub my fenders!

Yes i am shaving the bay to get a cleaner lok when i drop the motor in and it'll give me more turning radius.

DUDE i wish i had a lift though lol yeah two jacks and two jack stands are my only helpers.

I was really hungry and dinner was ready so i kinda rushed through it but its cool new brake lines anyway make that bay clean. For now i have decided not to run abs just because i dont have s13 abs knuckles and it'll get in the way when i drift.

actually my harness is at wiring specialties, they specialize in ls swap harnesses or any harness really. but it'll be tucked and clean. no more harnesses will be in the fender.

Blocked got hot tanked, bored, and honed, got my Scat rods, dropped off some ARP head studs, ls9 cam and cam springs, the head got hot tanked and resurfaced. estimated 600-700hp on 10psi and 600-650 ftlbs of torque[/SIZE]. my wiring was sent to Yury at wiring specialities, wiring is not my favorite nor am I good at it. lol they are still in the works its the first harness ever made, so itll be a while.

as for the motor mounts yes i will be making them waiting for some money to get my hands on a decent welder, and i may offer them if people are interested.

She looks damn good!!!!!!   


He does good wiring work.   I had a harness from him in my s14. 

I'd be interested in some mounts.

My headers before and after. The engine when i got it went through hell. 

so the headers were pretty bad, used some gunk gel kind, some rust remover, carb cleaner then hit it with a flap disc and wire wheel. And finally some DEI hi-temp silicone coating (with stands 1500 degrees!!) for that boost.

Sweet when the time comes around ill make some spares.

Had some time today to put in the motor to see what it would look like. COuldnt wait ahaha. Had a cheap s14 ka radiator that i may run or just get a mishimoto later own the line but there is a TONS more room than i thought. still going to clean and paint the engine bay. shave and overall clean it up.

 i went with a f-body oil pan and it sits behind the power steering rack about 1 in. the old power steering lines get in the way. plus its routed on the passegner side. while the ls motor powering steering is on the drivers side. The ac compressor is also located on the opposite side(q is on the drivers, and the LSX is on the pasengers) so i have a lot of flipping to do.

Ill be trying to retro fit the Q a/c compressor onto the LS so i can use the Q a/c system and keep the controls and units. rather than converting everything. I'll see how that goes. 

there is plenty of room in the front to route the exhaust piping and dual electric fans. overall this motor fits quite well in the Q with not body modifications. i don.t have to move the steering rack, nor notch my chassis the truck headers fit quite well and I've reserched that the truck headers are the biggest and harder to fit. If you wanted to run s13 swap headers on a n/a ls1 swap i have no doubt it wouldnt work, but dont quote me on that.

as for the motor mounts the. THE LSX mounting position sits a bit father back that the VH. about two inches, so the mount would have to extend forward to use the vh original position, which shouldnt be to much of a problem ill provide pictures later of everything i mentioned. 

EDIT: as for hood clearance issues not problem at all with the ls1 intake actually it looks like you could even run the truck manifold. i can test fit the truck one to see, but the ls1 intake has about 3-4in hood clearance. you can see in the photo that the intake sits way below the firewall. right under the brake lines if i had any.

SO i got my gauges in finally. With custom nissan logo printed on. retro fitted them into the oem housing, with fiberglass and bondo. still need to drill the holes for the turn signal, highbeam, and other lights.

AND some new Equipment!!!  Will be using the mill to make my motor mounts, tranny mounts, mill down my LMGT2. and milling out my top camber plates. TO add about -2 more degrees. (I'll offer this service to anyone once I get it up and running). stay tuned.

whoa!

Got some milling done to get extra camber on my top hats, about ~4 degrees more. Ill get more out of my LCA when i modify it.

Also have motor mounts now, nicely water jetted and ready to weld once i get the angles of tubing cut. Shaved my engine bay also but havent painted it yet. Still waiting on my welder and fitting my tubs. till then.
