Hi I'm John, here's my Q45 / F50 Project

Hello, about 6 months ago I sold my black GS to my neighbor, then picked up this Q45 and I've been stacking up parts here and there.  Last week my air suspension showed up, so now I'm excited to begin my project.  My wife had the car for the past 6 months until I got her a minivan.  While she drove it, she ran into the garage once and one time she hit my other car coming out of the driveway. So I'm glad I rescued this thing in the nick of time.. LOL

Here's my list of parts:

and yeah cutting the spindles is no fun.

looking at those underside shots reminds me how stupid that exhaust system is and how low it sits..

right?  the exhaust looks like crap. I was just gonna weld that Kbreak tip on and be done.  Unless, you got any suggestions on what exhaust to get? haha

Love the progress John. Did you weld the brake line brackets to the front struts? I made the mistake of not doing that.

I didn't realize the airrex in the rear was a bag over coil.  That's way better!

I may try the straight pipe route... I hope it's not too crazy loud tho... I can't stand the sound of an "exhaust drone" inside the cabin..

Yepp,  Airrex will give you both options.  As for me, being around alignments all day.  We wanted what the 350z's had.  Freedom of aftermarket Toe and Camber Adjustments.

I may have to look into that.  I hate having the seperate strut and bag.  I had my spring bucket modified with a heims joint to be able to adjust the toe.  That way is way easier

got the front collars welded today.  tomorrow it should be on the ground :-)

looks sick! I have no cats in mine except the pre cats on headers. It is really loud sounds like a roush mustang. With the cats in, it sounds super sexy and smooth like a much higher pitched v8. I would get rid of the two cats and go y pipe to a single cat to the back with a larger pipe. this way you can tuck it all up under side, and raise the motor up with some spacers and should have no problems

Thanks Kouki. The cars belly is on the floor and it's funny you mentioned the cats.. I layed it out the first time and I could "crunching noise" as the car lays out... LOL


So yeah, I will try re-routing the exhaust like you mentioned.  I don't know bout raising the motor though..  We'll see

Im glad to see you use a real alignment rack to set your camber unlike a shop in hawaii that uses some kind of JDM level guage. LMO ... 

Will it be ready for WEKFEST SAN JOSE.. AIRREX is with the Wekfest 2014 Tour now so ill prob fly in to run the airrex booth and get the airrex cars together!

Nothing against strings and homemade camber gauges.  I think it's just good for a quickie "DIY or someone at the track".   :-)

Any way I can get in on this? I don't have a kit lined up like John does but I am running AirRex struts.

I plan to take the rear barrels and move them to the front , then buy some deeper outer barrels for the rear.

We deleted the license plate holder.

Our f50s can use 350z camber and toe arms.  I am using Megan Racing, they work just fine.

Can't wait to see your f50 painted ..  Idk if Fuga guys will show.  We may keep this meet an exclusive F50 meet.  There will be one exception for Tony Tang with his Gloria tho...lol

Still sound exciting as long as I'm not the only one there haha.  I'm thinkin of putting a deposit for the booth already when I'm there on the 11th of April if you don't mind asking your friend.

How much work did it take to remove USDM bumper bar, weld in a steel bar and mount the JDM bumper? Can this be done in a garage? If not, how much labor did it cost at the shop?

Well, we removed the bar completely.  I have nothing there at the moment.  I will add a bar when I take the rear off again for some other work later.  As for cost, it's up to each individual shop.  It can't be more than $200, imo.

Wheels are 20x9 and 10s. Tires are 235/30 and 255/30 Falkens. wheel offsets, I forgot ..lol
