#511429LS400 Cut / Shave Technique
I've looked into fender rolling for my rears on my 96 LS400, but the car had a ton of rust removed, and is full of Bondo.I'd like to try to cut the fenders my self, I've found some threads and seen a few brief tutorials on other Lexus forums, and the two methods I've seen are using a dremel with a cutting wheel or a 3" belt sander with a sanding belt designed for metal.
I know my fenders are welded, with two pieces of steel, and I know if I cut past the welds it will split.
What I need advice on is, if I use a cutting wheel, is the idea to be grinding the edge down gradually until I find the welds, or cutting right in where I think they are? It makes more sense to grind until I find them, but I don't really know how long of a process that is or how many disks I'd burn through. My guess is that would take hours with a belt sander...
Can anyone who's shaved or cut their fenders lend some advice?
