Tommy's LS.

well have to keep track of these pictures somewhere so i decided to do a build thread. i apologize in advance because this is going to move sort of slow since i am head of household with a crappy job lol. 


some of you might be familiar with my SC. yes i wrecked it. yes i feel crummy about it and yes i still miss it to this day. ill never be over that car. so much blood sweat and tears went into that dang car and i pissed it all away. towards the end of its lifetime i wanted to sell to buy an LS. well i guess it kind of worked out since i have an LS now but i wish that car was still in existance. this was it.

anywho after all was done i managed to scrape about $1800. i was in debt because of the accident over all was just a bad situation. 


new car:
1995 Lexus LS400
no air suspension


CONS: 
320k miles. leaked everywhere, smoked when started, had PS whine, heated up when speed rose above 50ish rear struts blown. 


PROS:
almost mint paint. some paint chips. big chips on rear bumper. only damage to interior is torn driver seat, and dead LED in climate control. the passenger side window switches need replacing because broken tabs.


My rule for cars. Make reliable before pretty. i learned the hardway with my SC300.

i bought the car for 1600 after two days worth of haggling. lol. the ad said 1900. in person he wanted 2500. 


so yeah $1600. 


i replaced the thermostat (it was completely missing when i got the car) and refilled the coolant. boom over heating problem fixed.

next was the leaks. i started with the valve covers. 
i dropped a spark plug wire clip into the timing belt cover and cranked it to try and get it out. it made sense at the time. yes that was the dumbest thing i could have done. anywho car wouldnt start. my buddy is a tech so he came over and diagnosed it. crank sensor was being blocked by the clip. so the tear down began.

water pump
timing belt
both idlers
cam seals
crank seal
valve cover gaskets
spark plugs
oil pan gasket
powersteering reservoir o-ring
water return pipe o-ring 
crank positioning sensor
cam positionning sensors.
all bearings for pulleys.
timing belt tensioner
serpentine belt

well this is what it was looking like while i was putting everything back together. 
turns out timing was off originally so i fixed that. also had to replace the harness that connects to the positioning sensors because it was shorting out and making the car not start. after i put everything back together.

car is back up and running. have to replace the dang oil pan because oil drain bolt thread is stripped but its okay for now. next up is that oil pan and coilovers to get rid of the strut problem in the rear

quick update. doesnt look as good because radio is a PITA to work on and half the LED stations dont have any dang current. smh. well itll get replaced eventually this is just meanwhile.  also did some backyard DIY on my exhaust haha.

sorry build is going slowly. lot of bills to pay lol. working out a deal on coilovers. but might get a new front bumper and a 3 piece wing instead. deciding today

rear: 18x8.5 +45 with 30mm spacer

 yessir. the thing is ucf20's with ok miles and this condition run for 4k+. this car runs so smooth and has no suspension problems. if youre familiar with lexus 1uz engines youll know there is actually people with 500k+ miles lol. although engine is givinng me no problems it will get replaced by a 2uz block witth 1uz heads and ITB's/. its going to be on a megasquirt ECU with a custom fuel delivery system. that on its own will run me about 3k. it will be more power than stock AND will be eye pleasing [ATTACH]5445[/ATTACH]

debating on what to do with transmission still. it SHOULD handle the power but rebuilding it just in case

well quick update, Car got impounded for being too low. was driving home on a rainy day, cop was following me for a couple blocks, lit me up and told me i was throwing out sparks every so often and broke a couple reflectors. they couldnt get it on the flat bed. (they tried 2 different ones). they ended up just driving it to the yard haha. they told me it was the only time in their careers that had happened. anywho paid $1500 to get it out, got a $500 ticket + fix it ticket and all this nonsense. Im low on money so im waiting a couple more weeks. i raised car up to get ticket signed off. next up will be either getting new bumpers all around or getting new wheels. although i was contemplating getting this duraflex kit i saw online since its not fiber glass and can withstand getting dragged lol. more updates to come soon too. in need of a new battery. most likely getting a yellow top optima.

this is how the mufflers would sit before i raised the car up. people think i exaggerate when i tell them my exhaust sits a couple mm from the floor. it was so low, sometimes the exhaust would just sit on the floor.

Im waiting on SerialNine to release theyre front control arms. i need to find a rear upper control arm or atleast get one made. for the front i need to shorten the spindle and get the control arm SerialNine doesnt offer somewhere then i will finally be done with suspension. although i am thinking replacing all four swaybar endlinks while im at it

what you guys think?

wow that is LOW, that you scraped off the downpipe! did you fix that yet? how does it sound? that second "cat" is actually just a resonator.

as for your axles, i never thought it would hit the subframe like that! what my concern was that having too much negative camber will overextend them which can lead to joint failure or worse. now that you have adjustable arms, just be careful not to go overboard.

Yeah I fixed it haha. Well I did a few tunnel pulls Lmao. Sound like a Harley but super deep like gun shots, I was spitting fire. 

Ok so you're saying I need longer axles if I want to run more camber. Or just get good at changing axles and keep spares

it depends on how you add your negative camber. if you get adjustable upper arms and shorten them to add negative camber, you will need shorter axles. if you use your adjustable lower arms and lengthen them to add negative camber, you will need longer axles. it's an odd balance, which will take some guessing. for now i think you are ok. it's only when you go bananas on the camber that things get interesting.

I see, would I have to get custom axles?  Or just off another car

custom on-offs. it is unknown what other car's axles interchange.

ok quick update lol. sorry its taking so long. I ordered a new front bumper from Central Pine and i got my car aligned FINALLY lol. i still need to work on the front suspension so i havent slammed the front again but its "lowered" lol. back in wasnt low till the alignment then the car naturally went lower because of the camber.... im forced to get new tires every 3 weeks lmao. 
new front bumper should be here in about two months. coming from japan

Little tiny mod

quick updates. got these little bad boys for the rear end.

rear window visor and trunk lip thing. meh lol

also picked up some wheels. nothing too crazy just Borbet Style 95 with custom centercaps.

while i was at it i also had some custom spacers made. i picked them up the day after they were made. felt kinda cool haha. these are 30mm.

These are a little test fit i did. i however test fit them with 25mm spacers. not the 30mm. im also not throwing the wheels yet till i get some surprise additions up front.

keep in mind i still havent installed RCA in the front. and im horrible with surprises lol so im getting the Serial999 FUCAs. hopefully run as much camber in the front as the rear. 

also something different im doing is fender mirrors and side view mirror deletes. hopefully looks as good as it does in my head lmao. i got a vision and little by little its getting there.

maint wise: 
just changed all my fluids and all brake pads. however when i do install RCA and FUCAs i will need to also do a steering rack rebuild and replace LBJ. so yeah lol stay posted for updates in the coming month itll actually start looking like something. i might just install the Lambo door hinges i have once the car is evenly cambered.
