VIPStyle engine bay?

Can some people post pics of there engine bays? VIPStyle only :) I want to get some ideas for my car if you please. I am thinking of having my Valve Cover Chromed or Polished but I have not seen too many VIPStyle bays to know if my ideas flow with this style or not.

There's really no such thing.  You could see the same engine bay on a vip car as seen in a track or drift car.  Just a little cleaner bay maybe..haha, that's about it.

it's all good mayne... just clean up the bay make it nice and shiny, maybe get some of the parts like the engine cover custom painted, pieces chromed, etc... just some ideas

ive actually seen that but it was a vinyl didnt look that bad .. also seen some pictures from TAS 2008? i think where some cars had so taggin in the hood( forgot what company did that)

Ive seen a leather wrapped engine cover...I dont see why there couldn't be such a thing.

Not call it "VIP" but just a more luxurious way of dressing up your engine bay.

For example doing a wood grain effect to certain components like elfatherf50cima said.

Fuuuuuugg that is what I am talking about! Too bad that one is not gonna be driven anywhere :) I need to do mine and drive it :) I am trying to find a good Chrome place and need to buy a new engine Valve cover. 

I know you guys must look at me as a newbie. I am new to the scene and have allot to work on with my car. But I have a taste for quality.

Most VIP chassis cars, you can't see the valve covers or much else for that matter, everything is hidden by plastic covers. The thing which makes it VIP imo is how clean you keep it.  Even if you have no mods, judges want to see how you keep it. As long as you keep it really clean all the time, then that's VIP IMO.

you can pull an aristotle onassis and wrap stuff in whale foreskin. he did this to the bar stools on his yacht, the christina o. apparently, he would lean forward, stroke the bar stool, and ask the beautiful women at the bar if they knew what the bar stools were made of. baller, but creepy, haha.

Imo vip is about keeping a somewhat subtle exterior. So that means you can go all out on areas that can't be seen, and get away with it. Engine bays, trunks, gas caps are up for grabs as good areas to show creativity. He'll even door jambs can get some air brushing for a Lil extra pop.

Gold headers ? Garson blinged out engine cover...Crome everywhere????

that GS has a very clean engine bay simple .. i like!

yeah cars with shaved bays usually have a lot of stuff taken out to simplify the process

like remove the power steering and the a/c

If the xA in your sig is the car you are building, it can be tucked. I'm about halfway done with the tuck on my xB (same bay as an xA) and 1-2 others have tucked them as well.

I think some of that is cool, Our engines are the same but our bays are not. Even if they were I think it's allot of work to do this. I would have to find a better place for the fuse box. I daily my build :) and do not believe in removing safety over looks. So gotta keep both airbags . 

If I only drove the car to shows well this would be a different story.

That is my daily too. :) 19 hour soldering marathon. I cut the harness then realized I needed to be somewhere at 11am the next day. -.- I tucked my fuse box behind the glove box, the ABS system is still there. I'm not sure if there is a gap there large enough on the xA.

Anyhow, looking at pics of the xA bay, yeah it is slightly different. For the most part it appears to be similar though, so that thread should be able to help. 

If you like the covered engine look, I know ScionPro was making full engine bay cover kits, I'm not sure for what model scions or if they're out yet though.

Yeah it's slightly smaller for the xA. Like we cant just install the Greddy SC without some mods to the front bay.  I looked into the Scion Pro ones, even got the engine cover. The engine cover looks terrible without the whole kit. I tried it, yuk! They will never make a kit for the xA or xD. Just will not happen as I was told.

I would love to learn more about getting all the stuff wired diff. and such :) at some point.

Tucking and cleaning up all the stock BS in your engine bay is just a good idea period.  Not only does look a whole hell of a lot better, but you can actually work on your car when needed.

Still waiting on my VH to bite the dust before I do something similar to the Q...

My 240 bay...relocated the fuse box and battery to the trunk and ran the engine harness through the firewall behind the engine so you didn't see it come into the engine bay or see it out in the open except where it goes along the engine itself.

the factory puts so much crap that isnt even needed ... i want to do the same to my 180 clean the bay a little ... and just re-locate everything just been lazy and its efen hott in vegas ..

Yea ive seen alot of VW's and Audis just relocate and hide things but to extend and relocate wouldnt try daily it cause if you have a issue gonna be a real pain to find what happened and the extension of wires can cause even more headaches.

yeah don't want any headaches that will not be an easy non expansive fix. SO some simple stuff will be ok for me I think. plus some polishing or chroming. MAYBE even a diff. color for the bay itself. Like black :)

check out racingstylez engine set up ... not VIP but also not stock..

I took it to an extreme... shaved EVERYTHING and TUCKED everything... relocated relays and fuses to a panel under my dashboard... very easy access... eliminated AC and ABS... 

again its very extreme... only have this car out at Shows, track events and very nice days...

-Those harnesses running along side of the tubs can be moved under the fender, and wastegate hoses can be trimmed or moved elsewhere as well. Perhaps hidden under the subframe?

-Shaved bays are nice, only problem is when you start splicing wires to make them longer, etc. Some of them come undone, then you have to figure out why your car is running like crap. So if you are going to do it, do it right the first time.

Also shaving/tucking will only look great with a clean bay. The XB in pictures above could use a nice wash and wax in it's bay...will make it look 100 times better.

yeah I love shaved engine bays...get rid of the A/C,power steering,fuses,intakes,battery and for that matter,fuck the engine off too.....cos it's every 5 minutes I'm putting my bonnet up to show my wares to any one who'll look. Why did lexus even bother putting any of that crap??

IMHO when i think VIP engine bays i think of my uncles S500.. just a clean plastic cover over the engine with a Lexus or Mercedes benz emblem on it!

When it comes to power adders, I like the simple looksand clean look.  We're not building muscle cars here, so painting a block and adding a ton of chrome pieces isn't necessary.  I'm really not too much into the chroming anyways, it's more for the lowriders to me.  What I like is a clean bay, wires tucked, and so clean it doesn't look like it's ever been driven.  And I'm not saying avoid the roots superchargers or turbo's, just keep it clean and classy.  Keep it like it like it just came off the showroom floor, if the showroom floor was a Lambo dealership.

i have been thinking about taking some diamond stitch vinyl and wrapping the engine bay in it shouldnt cost any more than $80

I know I'm not the first to come up with this, but rather than polishing or chroming up parts in the engine bay, I'm going with copper. I would do gold, but only if I had a black car (even though it's highly expensive).

One of the things that will add a nice touch are the bolts in the engine bay, like so:

I like to see body color matching plastic panels, but it depends on the color and vehicle. Or maybe going with a black chrome or something that is different and looks good.

I'll be replacing all my bolts with polished ones and adding Swarovski crystals on the tip of all of em. I needa open up my headlights and instead of doing the led's that i see a ton of people doing to mimick the Audi's and whatnot, i'll be lining up certain areas with the crystals as well.

i really like those washer/bolts. i plan on doing my q w/ them when i do the conversion (black of course). they look so clean.

Vip cars rarely pop their hoods...when they do, they've got something to show, either cosmetic, functional or both.  I've always been into engine bling.  Chrome is not just for "lowriders"...hot rods have been doing it for years...

In the 90's when I had my Minitruck we used to make custom moulded engine covers with FRP and colour code them or airbrush them. I really like the wood grain effect plastics I've seen on some VIP style builds too aswell as tastful chrome or polishing all looks good to me.

One of the things that will add a nice touch are the bolts in the engine bay, like so:

I like to see body color matching plastic panels, but it depends on the color and vehicle. Or maybe going with a black chrome or something that is different and looks good.

I'll be replacing all my bolts with polished ones and adding Swarovski crystals on the tip of all of em. I needa open up my headlights and instead of doing the led's that i see a ton of people doing to mimick the Audi's and whatnot, i'll be lining up certain areas with the crystals as well.[/QUOTE]
