2015: a new year, new wheels. On an old 2GS, owned by an old white guy.

I haven't driven this car much in the last three years - work & life got in the way. Almost sold it last March, but for the $ I can get out of it, I decided I might as well keep it. Hard to believe I've had it since 2003.

So, I did a light refresh, which included respraying the bumpers and new wheels & tires. I wanted something really different from what I've typically had, but I am still a three-piece wheel guy - so I thought I'd try a concave wheel. I stuck with my favorite brushed/polished center finish with different styles on either side of the car. I did chrome outers and candy blue inner barrels, something I have done once on this car in the past. I think this is the tenth set of wheels on this car!

I'm still on H&R coilovers (rears were modified a couple years ago to get as low as it currently is), and I am still a wide tire kind of guy. I tend to drive all of my cars pretty hard, especially during cornering maneuvers, so I like a lot of rubber. The wheels are wide enough that the tires are somewhat stretched - it's not that obvious in photos, but you can definitely see it in person. I'd forgotten what a nice car this is to drive, and the way the paint flip-flops almost to greenish color late in the day.

Front 20x10.0" with 255/30-20 Toyo Proxes 4 Plus
Rear 20x12.0" with 295/25-20 Toyo Proxes 4 Plus

Here's wishing you all a happy, healthy, prosperous, and scrape-free 2015!

Thanks. Paint is PPG Vibrance, it does turn a little green sometimes late in the day; it's very interesting. I haven't driven the car really at all in three years, so frankly, I had forgotten about that uniqueness of the paint. It's not a "chameleon" paint, though. The color is based off of the stock Lexus Spectra Blue Mica; the top half is tinted a little darker, and the roof and side pinstripe (dividing the top and bottom blues) is NightHawk Black with blue flakes added (or, upon seeing it in person, Mr. Junction Produce himself said, "brue frake.")
