ouch...i need to locate someone with a fender roller, that is much easier than these methods, and less chances of cracking paint!

will it chip paint easily? or if you heat it up enough, will it be ok.

in the last 6 years ive rolled a lot of fenders, and while starting with your traditional fender roller, i dont even own one anymore. it's a great tool, but one that offers little control, and a lot of adjusting in order to achieve great results. it's more annoying than anything else, imo.

Should be good. I heated mine up but it was going a tad slow. (I never tried the driving on it method). I ended up scoring it with a cut off tool to cut the paint, then hammered it flat. Then took some black rustoleum to the inside to prevent rust. Cheap, easy, but sorta ghetto. (what can ya do when no shop around has a fender roller). So yea, worked fine for me. When I was doing the baseball method it wasnt cracking anything, but then again I didnt want to be doing it for 5 hours.

We have used both pipe techniques and fender rollers on cars here. I found the fender roller and torch to heat up the paint and meta works best. even without scorching the paint.

Yeah a torch on paint go figure but if your careful it works. Course this was on a cressida and a 240 so we are not talking high dollar paint here.

Keiichi Tsuchiya aka the Drift King, you mean?

Curious about the pipe method. Can it be used on the front as well as the rear? And do you have to lower or raise tire pressure before doing it? I want to do it on my 1993 Lexus LS400 and I need to keep my inner fender lining on the front. How far can I go before I begin to endanger losing my fender linings?

the pipe can be used on either front or rear, but the car needs to be a the right height, in order for the pipe to contact the fender as desired.

ive never actually used a pipe but use a set of impact sockets attached to an impact gun or wrench. they allow you to fine tune the diameter allowing you to influence the fender's edge as you please.

you can't "effectively"" the front fender without removing the inner fender liner. although with some creativity you could remove the fender liner hardware, and possibly smash it between the folded lip and the opposite edge.

so, owning an ae86 and 240sx didn't learn you any of these techniques, [thread=3876]but you DID become an expert on tire stretching?[/thread] i can't imagine where you'd have a stretched tire without a processed fender...

I never modified my 240sx to that extent. Around here we've had a guy that rented out an eastwood fender roller. I'm in a tri-state car club so you can stop bashing me, thanks. I do believe I know a good amount about tire stretching since I did a lot of looking into it. And I ran funny test fits on my car for the hell of it like running 225/50/15s on 15x10s on the rear for the heck of it, just to see what kinda comments I could get out of it. I was going to go for massive fender flares but I decided to sell the car before I got to that point and I picked up my lexus ls400.

Thats all good if you don't mind a little body and paint work. Warps your wheel arches and cracks all the paint.
