Just got my Mufflers from Japan

dont know the brand.What yall think??

i really dont think those type of mufflers shoul be on a car unless its complete with aero, very aggresive fitment and slammed to the ground. imho

did you cut or enlarge arches in the bumpers for the tips?  it's nice in as much as the mufflers are close to the bumper, rather than hanging.

i'd be interested to see pictures after a few hundred miles or so...  i wouldn't be surprised if there was some melting or deformation around the tips.  at least you can battle the surface burning and soot with frequent car washes.

My question is, is it supposed to be flushed in like that or are they supposed to hang out just a bit? I remember seeing a muffler like that before, but they were hanging out a bit. By the way the way you have it seems to look good.

your car needs aero, and a more aggressive drop. the drop alone will make them look better. how much did they cost you?

I think they look good. As far as melting anything, how hot do muffler tips get, somewhere between 60-100 degrees maybe. If you drive it really hard and work out the engine maybe a little higher but I just dont think that anything would happen.

Those actually should have been mounted about 2-3 more inches back.  Your bumper WILL melt, so maybe trimming it now or remounting it might be a good idea.  They look decent, with aero they will look great.

not trying to argue, but if you guys notice, he's on a spring suspension with lowered springs already, not air so more drop isnt' going to happen unless he suddenly finds a check for $4500 in the mail!
i'm in the same situation, i need more drop but lack the necessary funds!:thumbsup:

Pull the struts off?  If your going to cut them, cut them on the car! Ive done it once, and seen it done several times.

ARE YOU SAYING cut the springs on the car while they're still installed? how would you get rid of the cut off piece?
it's just as easy to pull the struts for me, i just pull the car into work up on a lift and remove them.

Make your cut.  Then pry out the cut piece with a screwdriver, hold it, and cut it in half. Its easier than it seems. It sounds dangerous, but its not like somethings going to fly at you. haha.  My coonass friend does it to every car he's had. 

I did it to a Prelude. I bought it on a Friday and couldnt wait to throw on my wheels. While the wheels were off, I cut the springs with a angle grinder. I had my wheels on and the car was SLAMMED! ....and was ready to go out in an hour and a half. Ghetto...I know.

you dont even need to cut your springs  . . heat them at the muffler shop for like $20 - $35, just tell them how low you want them to be, takes like 30 minutes, no cut, no pullin off struts . .

a real vip car in japan has tips that extend out 3 to 4 feet from the bumper (upward)Cool - (suteki) . i personally like the close to the bumper look. its more low key and sleek looking. keep up the good work.

Mufflers are sweet. i remember back when i first started to see VIP in a japan mag i was like whoa somethings wrong with the tips on the mufflers. but when they showed it with the aero then it came together. but nice either way man. 

for people who cut or heat springs. man i give you guys mad props. cause i would never do that. i rod in my friend car with cut springs and man that thing is so irrate. it bounces all over the road. was pretty bad too. he almost lost it sometimes. cause the roads back in hawaii were pretty bad at one point. plus he bottomed out every where. so i told him to switch out the springs which he later did when he had $$$. haha. but i think its a budget thing when people cut springs. but i say wait till you have the $$ and do it right the first time. especially with suspension. more than one thing can break and its for safety. just my thoughts..

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned this...when you get your kit, you'll have to do some modifying either to the bumpers or the mufflers.

anyways They look good man, I would have suggested the poking out by 2"-3" as well since then they would have looked a bit more cleaner. You will be getting some of that melting I assure you, unless you trim it right now which is the best thing to do, if you want you can even trim like a 1/8" and be cool. The drop will help but most importantly.... DON"T HEAT THE SPRINGS!!!! I don't care what anybody says, heating up springs is a bad deal, it will ruin the integrity of the spring rate and cause you to hate life while driving after a few weeks of that ish, so just do it right and drop it using lowering springs that were meant to do that and if they aren't enough then CUT them but never heat them!!!
