drilled/slotted rotors and ceramic pads!?

ok fellas,

I just got my zinc-plated drilled/slotted rotors installed at a shop and they also changed out my old pads with new CERAMIC pads. I thought only SEMI-METALLIC pads were supposed to be used on zinc-plated drilled/slotted rotors.

can someone please clear this issue up with me so that I can go to sleep better at night. I need to know if these ceramic pads will destroy my new rotors.

I'm not a wheel/suspension/brakes guru hence the reason why I need you experienced gentlmen's help.

Thanks- (arigatou)

semi metallic is just what it sounds like, they have small metal particles in them that add friction to the rotors. Im no expert in different kinds of pads but i would think that this kind of pad would eat into the rotors more than ceramic ones so i think your ok and good to go

your question, obviously, has nothing to do with what I'm asking.

i always thought the plating was to keep it from rusting. either way the braking surface is going to eat up that plating anyways.

Yes, that cad plating lasts all of a good few miles on the main sweep area of the brake pads... then it only remains on the edges and hat area. And underneath the plating? It's just a normal rotor... no probs
