Air cylinders.

I picked these up last night. My buddy had them on his 99 honda accord, for three years, but only drove the car a few times (Messed up tranny).

Ill have to make new brackets for both ends, to make them work. Im waiting on my wheels to come in, before I start taking measurements. The fronts are roughly 4 1/8", the rears are 3 1/4" in diameter.

You guys, on air, ever do your own setups? Or just pay 2,3,4 grand to have someone else do it?

I plan on running two 5 gal. tanks, with two compressors. It will all be 3/8" lines, and valves, possibly with accumulators (dont know if Ill need them). For valves Im just going to go to Parker Valves, and get four 3/8" electric valves. Im only going for front, back, and pancake. Instead of a switchbox, Im thinking of just running 3 switches, mounted in the console.

Comments, suggestions?

you will need them.

if you could ever find the og air sus accums, dont buy those.  all they do is increase your system's air volume.  get some bladder accums, and lower the charge pressure for your application.

Nice, gotta see pics installed!  I had cylinders on my old integra before.

Got some new parts in today.  

Twin Viair 450c's in chrome! Just need to get some valves, and start fabricating mounting brackets.

hope you have better luck than i did with air cylinders on my integra. they looked just like that set...and didnt last more than two months. might i mention that i used to live in pot hole paradise(new orleans la.) but 40 bucks is a good price. good luck wiht that project man.

we use universal cylnders a bunch. i would recommend running 4 individuals, not just the 3 switches. maybe add pancake as well, but having inviduals is much better, especially when something goes wrong.

oh, and just run one 5 gallon, 2 is unnecessary and youll wait forever to fill them unless you're gonna run 4 comps.

What made them not last? Did they start leaking?


Also, Ill be running three switches, because Ill only be using four valves. The fronts will be tied together, and so will the rears.  So, Ill have up/down for front and rear, ...and pancake. 3 switches.

why in the crap do u want to run just 4 valves? badd idea.

Why not? I only need to control front and rear. Im not intersted in controlling side to side.

yes they started leaking. everytime i pulled to a stop.... the front would smack..... then eventually few weeks later the rear followed.  this was back when air rods first came out. hopefully they stepped up on the design.  but i know i would never trust a metal canister with a rubber o-ring to hold air anymore.  air bags are much more reliable.

you must have had leaks elsewhere like in the fittings. we use cylinders on a ton of stuff and never have any leak issues what so ever.

no it was not in the fittings,lines ,or valves. it was the cylinders. the brand was EAI  from the hack shak. i dont even see an ad for this company anymore.

Im not far from N.O.  All of are roads are fucked, including the interstate. I ride a rigid frame chopper, and on the highway I have to keep it under 60mph or so, ...so I dont get bucked off!

SI there a faq or something with some basic info on air suspension? what is the ride quality like with these (when slammed, or raised to stock)?
