UAS vs. AirRunners

Just was wondering what was over all a better kit. Lets say that the price is the same on both kits ( the basic kit not with any upgrades). The quaility of the lines fittings and everything, which is better. The quaility of the bags/struts.

If it came down to it what would you get? (Not looking at the price)
Thanks in advance

Instead of asking these questions, I suggest you find someone with your application that has it and test it out. We can't tell you what is better when the person buying it might have a different opinion. Air Runner uses airstruts that are already assembled (90% of the time bolton). It uses Firestone compressor/bags/wlock fittings/etc. UAS's aerosport bags are made as a bag over strut (not assembled). What application by the way? And before this gets out of hand, no outside vendor/company posts.

Good info to know. I dont mean to be off topic if I am, but how does the Bold World setup compare to either of the UAS or AirRunner?
cheers

AIR RUNNER

Sorry, Let me know if I have violated any rules on this post for comapiring two brands.

Well I have a GS300 and i have seen and rid in the Air Runners set up. But i was looking on UAS website and i saw some of the underfender shots of the white g35 and looks like there was steel braided hoses going to the bag on which on the other hand AirRunners have plastic air hoses to the bags. Dont get me wrong, i know you can change the lines up and get your own steel lines, but i wanted to know what is better quaility staight out of the package deal. I also noticed that UAS comes with SOLENOID for an electronic switch and airrunners come with paddle manual switches. Also UAS comes with two compressors and runners come with one. Both systems offer upgrade packages but what is better of their basic package kit.

the steel braided hoses are an upgrade by the individual. elec. valves i dont really like because it tends to leak. the manual valves are pretty solid. i never had a leak

so manual control is better than digital control ? I thought it would be the other way around.

you air bag veteranos should put up some of your experience and opinions.

The hot ticket would be if airrunner would just sell the strut towers by themselves and you could provide your own air management, fittings and lines. Then you would have the ultimate set up... looks, parts and performance. But from what I understand you can not do it this way. I have tried to talk directly to the US supplier and they only sell airrunner in complete kits.

yeah, because sometimes elec valves wont close all the way and thjeres a lot of plumbing on elec valves. so that will tend to leak.

my friend with the black accord wagon bought the whole air runner system... he tried to just buy the struts but the price of the struts would be almost the same price of the whole system. but we did away with the whole air management and i had him order an upgraded one from the sport truck sites i order from. i dont think theres nothing wrong with manual valves but i go with electric. its faster, more wiring and plumbing but its worth it. so he bought the whole air runner system just for the struts, everything was upgraded..
Forum image
coming from the truck scene, its kinda hard to adapt so a slower set up. my truck is all about speed, laying flat on 22's and hoppin... but itll grow on me, wont be hard...

but if its ride quality you want, id say go with air runner, but if cost is an issue, then uas with some performance struts will due...

uas vs airrunners

I would want to go with electric vavles and a digital system for its preset functions. It would be alot easier to have a preset button for parking, driving low, and driving high.

no one really knows yet, as I am one of the first in the nation to order a Bold World kit, John from high society vip has the cup system and from what I have seen the quality is on another level but it is at least a grand plus more than airrunner on the cost front, but I will be the first person I know of with a full air bag system from Bold.

i got the airrunner with the 8 electric solenoid kit. its great. wish the valves would be a bit faster but eh>...rides really good on any of the settings from 4 all the way to 1. right now i have it set 1 in the front and 2 in the rear. i just dropped it off last night to get the exhaust done to releive some back pressure so the turbo's could breath better. i jumped into my explorer and man what a difference in ride quality. lol. i would say airrunner all the way from personal experience!

UAS, I am using them now. I just recently installed their kit and I can basically tell you it comes with everything but the kitchen sink. Now I am no air suspension expert, but from my experience it was an fairly easy install. All you need to do is to figure out where to put everything.

This whole kit comes with everything you need from a stainless steel tank, brass fittings, compressors, and all the rest of the necessary equipment to install. By the way I am in no way trying to sell anything or advertise as well, but I am trying to give a little input.

curious, how much did the kit cost, [all pictured items included]?

i only saw the bags listed in the kit for sale on their website. never seen them sold with shocks, and those fancy upper mounts... looks like the kits are coming much more complete! great looking!

$2,300 for the kit. A little over $250 for the HKS upper mounts, and $300 for the KYB shocks. For now I will be using these shocks until I can purchase some HKS coilovers. Nonetheless well worth the money.

For the front yes, it's about an 1" or maybe a little less off the ground. The rear is another thing, I'm using stock upper mounts there and could easily get lower if replaced. Also if I were using coilovers I may even be able to get lower.

Both kits have their pros and cons this is what i've gathered as I have installed both UAS and airrunner products.

Airunner
-------------------------------------------
Pros:

100% complete bolt on kit Includes everything you need.
complete strut/bag combo no need to buy struts or reuse old struts.
Instructions included in box (not very through but at least they give something)
Provided wiring and connectors are adequate, they give you enough length to pretty much mount it where you want.
A some what backed up name and japan counterpart thats been in business for awhile (airbomber)
A product that has some R&D involved.
Kyb 4 way adjustable strut.
Firestone air bags.
Decent air management.
Diy friendly.
1 year warranty.

Cons:

Basic kit comes with pneumatic switches which cause airline to be ran throught the car limiting installation areas.
Cheaper gauge setup with IMO not so accurate way of determining a pressure reading.
One time use fittings. With their crush fitting design according to airrunner, the resin rings can only be used once.
Small compressor allowing long fill times.
No water trap included.
Ugly air tank (big welds, very rugged looking, flat black finish, something you would rather hide then showcase)
No gauge for tank pressure
No rebuild option within usa(from what i've gathered please correct me if im wrong)
Expensive kit starting price at $4000+
_________________________________________________________________

Universal Air System
--------------------------------------------

Pros:

Cost effective.
Chrome tank.
Viair compressors.
Electric valves allowing greater installation flexibility.
Decent bag construction thicker then most.
Push to connect fittings, reusable.
Big valves/airlines offering faster lift/down times.
Us based company
Dual big compressor setup (faster fill times)

Cons:

Universal design bags are not application specific.
Provided parts are minimal (in both kits I've installed parts were missing)
Minimal bracketing. Most of it is universal and depending on application may need to be modified/fabricated to make work.
Big diameter bag will not clear smaller inner wheel wells where suspension clearance is an issue.
Does not include engineered shock body. (will need to use stock or replacement strut designed to work with a coil spring)
Slip over design limits you to using only certain shock diameters.
No upper mount included, you need to reuse the stock one.
Non static design, bag could possibly move when suspension is loaded/unloaded.
Switch box is bulky limiting areas to store it in.
No gauges included.
No wiring/connectors included.
If running single valves, they will all need to be assembled.
No real R&D, basically they sell you parts you need to put together to make a "bolt on air suspension"
Tank included only has 4 ports limiting plumbing options.
No instructions included in box. May be downloaded.
Limited application specific instructions.
Not really DIY friendly.
No real warranty info listed (from what I've seen)

Thats all I can remember for now, Basically these are my opinion and are just to answer some unanswered questions about the difference between the two.

They all rode pretty well, most air systems ride well with the right pressure. The difference is you could change the ride quality with the airruner shock from soft to stiff at the same ride pressure.

The universal comes with this. Expect to pay an extra 5-7 hundred more for air management that will do what you want it to do.

thanks for the info man! I am quite new to the air suspension scene, but im assuming the top three and bottom three are for front back and side to side? what are the middle buttons for?

I recently own Airrunner and only have heard horror stories about UAS, but IMO I think it's better to lower the car slower that way you give people more time to see the car being dropped. I know you can always change the lines but whatever. Also I feel more safe knowing that I'm getting a whole new strut. I daily drive on mine and the ride is beautiful. You have the ability to customize your ride by changing the stiffness and softness of the ride. I would agree that not havin a chrome tank is a minus and the gauge setup does take some getting used to, but it's definatly well worth the money and I have no regrets on that! From what I've heard, UAS is only a good system if you do a custom build and REALLY know what your doing. MO If you can save your money and buy the BOLD WORLD system :) That's better than both systems!

uas vs airrunners

KickEachVerse;54981 wrote:how do u do that?

there is dial on top of each shock from 1-4.
1 being the softest and 4 being the stiffest, this is for the airrunners shocks

for VIPcars, SLOW drop-raise is the way to go.

remember, this style is not for "hopping". Poy's easystreet seemed fast enough, very smooth, but that's the first air car I've experienced so what do I know.

I like mine faster being its faster to pancake, go to ride height and from ride height to full up on roads that will shatter fiberglass.

Yea, but also when you pull up you want people to see the car drop. If it's to fast then people don't get to see it. Plus it's a lot sexier when it's slower.
Dave Chappell said it best "Everything is better in slow motion!!!" hahahaha!

I like it SLOW plus aren't you putting more stress on the parts when you're shooting up.

in regards to the fast vs slow speeds of your air system...

keep in mind that if you plumb your system with big valves and lines you have the ability to control the speed, meaning you can be anywhere from fast to slow.

if you plumb your system with small valves and/or lines you are restricted to slow. All you can do is vary from slow to ultra-slow.

Keep this in mind, as air plumbing is quite simple. plumb it big and use accessories to control the fill and exit speed.

ie. fast for the car show, or playing around, and slow for adjusting height on the freeway going 80mph, etc.

but I tell ya, there has to be a cheaper way or alternative to get air without the stiff price tag.

I just don't see how all the typical components required to get air can be so costly.

the materials are generic.

Very true but if you piece together your own system expect to put alot of time and effort into the project being that you need to do all your own fabrication, and R&D. A "off the shelf" system like airrunner will save you time in the long run. I really don't know why UAS is so popular being that you pay for basically what is parts, and by the time you put everything together you spent more on labor weather you did it yourself or had a shop install it.

What kinda horror stories have you heard about uas? I DD my ride 100 miles everyday and everything is still tight. I've heard that Airrunners bottom out alot and have a mushy ride. Is that true? UAS is not cheesy like what alot of you think...I think the were baggin a Ferrari last time I went in there. If your in Socal u should stop by their shop(House of Lowriders) in San Bernadino and watch them assemble the actual airbags.

Any strut will bottom out when riding on a very low pressure. I personally think UAS is alright, but there is a better alternative out there. The cheesyness of their brackets thats cut out of 3/8" mild steel and the way the brackets are not application specific bother me. Also not manufacturing a full bag/strut assembly really tell you about how much time and effort the company really puts into their systems. But hey, It's a cheap alternative to airrunner so for now they will be selling many kits because of the price.

Universal Air Suspension

Of course there's always going to be better alternatives but to sum it all up I think their name says it all.

Air Runner does not sell the struts separately if they did this thread wouldnt be up.

And yes why make it hard for yourself, just save time/labor and buy the assembly thats already made. Just curious how many of you have been in a car with UAS or Air Runner? I'm not pointing at anyone but if you haven't I don't think you should be commenting here. :p Just my 2 cents.
