Cusco Zero-1 coilovers...

...so there's this member here on VSC (that has supposedly sold to many members on here) that is trying to sell me a USED set of Cusco Zero-1 coilovers for $1,200 shipped and gaurantees that none of the shocks are blown.  It is for my UCF10.

I do not want to hear, "go air" because I want to go coilovers for now, no ifs ands or buts about it.

so tell me, should I pay $1,200 for a USED set of Cusco Zero-1's when I don't even know how many miles are on them?

the dude also said he has this set of (also USED) JIC SA-1 VIP coilovers for $900 shipped.  Here's a picture:

would either of these transactions be a rip-off if I go through with it?

whatever you do man just be absoleutly sure they arent blown, if they are your in for a world of annoyance. personally Id go with the JICs because im more familiar with them and I know they have a base in america, so when I finally give up looking for shops that will rebuilt coilovers I know I can at least send them to jic america and get it done... for a price.

true.  the only thing about those cusco's is that they dump your car about 1/2 inch more than the JIC's.  However, I want to go with something a little stiffer.  the dude told me that the Cusco's would be more stiffer than the JIC's.  Unsure.

also, those JIC's look beat up and the dude said he "can't promise" that every shock is in good condition on those JIC's.

Its hard to say not knowing who you are dealing with..and when you are buying used parts..IF this guy is just hooking you up with parts and has no idea there condition I would say NO..dont buy them..IF this guy is a reputable seller and he actually used them then I would say buy them..
 
1200 for a set of used is High when you can buy new for 500-700$ more..but thats me..If I buy things used I like to get the best deal possible as you never know how long the parts going to last..
 
Its a lot of money to spend on junk if its junk but its not alot of money if its not junk..now the ? is can you trust this person enough to take his/ her word on the product he/she  is selling you.

I'd say just spend the extra for some new ones.  There are plenty of options for your ucf10.  Do not buy those JICs, those older versions might not be rebuildable.  I just found that out since I got screwed on some Y33 JICs and rebuild parts are no longer available.

Older JICs arn't rebuilable but they do have a trade in program..you get a discount off some new ones...so it may be worth it depending on what type of deal you get on some used ones..

yeah they'll give you a discount, but you'll spend less just buying them new.  They sure as hell won't give you $900

I have heard of him and talked with him but never have done any business with him so honestly can't say yeah or neah..

what company does he represent? I remember him being mentioned in the past as a seller, I could be very wrong but I thought he was with fetch?

lets say u put on use coilovers and now your clunks
when you turn sharp right..
was the installation done wrong?
was the coilover messed up before you put it on?
was it damaged during shipping?
is the life of the damper already used up?

because you bought something used, it puts a big spin/variable
when something isn't just right. so to avoid this nightmare,
i would suggest getting coilovers NEW, but im not saying that u
can't buy used coilovers and be a happy customer and drive the remainder
of you/your car's time together just fine and dandy...

i know that because you dunno the exact history of the dampers,
you will never be able to figure stuff out.

ive purchased used coilovers twice now and luckily ive been 
alright and they have plenty of life in them. but who's to
say that u will get the same results.. 1200 bucks is a lot to gamble..
what if u saved for another month and got new ones fofr 1500?
wouldn't that be a safer bet? ive seen some places
selling jic's and such for as low as 1700. so i dunno...

just my 2 cents, i hope it helps and gives you a new view of your purchase

i dont think you would have to worry about dumping your car (in signature) on coilovers.  the junction produce kit is pretty tall, and >if< you lowered it to the coilovers lowest setting, you might never be able to go over a bump again.  so the comparison of height adjustment range is null.

although if you operate that such a height, i commend you!

I've got this Anceltion catalog and there's these UCF10 coilovers that are just screaming out to me everytime I look at them.

I wonder who can get me a set of new Anceltion coilovers for the UCF10 model fairly quickly.  Hmmmm...

yeah, but the only dude I know that can get me Anceltion parts fairly quickly is Wilson @ PGMotoring but I think he's been real busy lately since about 2 weeks ago.  I can't get a hold of him for anything right now.

I would go new on suspension rather then guesstimating the mileage. Bargains can sometime turn to nightmares.

a real good sign of how used up a coilover is to realize how long that particular coilover has been in production. 

If that particular coilover model stopped production 8 years ago, then chances are they are well over 8 years old.

can't you get tein coilovers for your UCF10? I thought ucf10 suspension parts were easy to get. no ?

super low coilovers + your body kit = sure death of your bodykit. Mark my words.

Check this out mang...I dont know to much about these but if you are willing to spend money on used coilovers then these would probably work 
out better for you plus they are in the US...

those are all for the UCF20 and up.  I saw all those links weeks ago.

so yes, as far as non-air suspension goes, it's hard as hell to find coilovers for a UCF10.

Not all that hard, there's a few used ones on upgarage.com and they're all over the Yahoo Japan auctions.
