I would like to know this as well...
ill second.. err.. third that
i am under the impession that the door tables (for the most part) have a hook type bracket that slips over the door edge between the window. and dash tables have brackets that mount in or on the glove box. but i'm sure there are more knowledgable members than i on this subject.
I would love to find out where I can get my hands on a glove compartment table for my 91 LS.
there are ppl on the Scion forums that have been offering custom tables made for left-hand drive cars. -s-
noob question... how safe are these things in a crash?
noob question... how safe are these things in a crash?
I would assume not very safe, and even less safe if you have a bunch of stuff actually in them... not really a noob question I never thought about that :uglystupid2:
well no... i see these tables on a lot of cars in asia, vip or not, so i wonder if there is something that i'm missing. even full picnic tables the goes the length of the passenger side dash. i've been in a wreck as a passenger, seatbelt on, airbag deployed, and i still managed to hit the dash... i can't imagine what one of these might do to me :buck2:
my table would probably take out the knees first.. and if you slide past that...then it would take out anything below the waist including the wrists from bracing for the impact.....if the seatblets werent fastened... ;)

where can you fid these tables at.
Yea where?????? I saw a current issue of Import Tuner with a pimped out 240SX with a dash VIP cup holder table thing.
240SX owners are lucky because the VIP table fits pretty easily with a RHD table. I just did a test fit with a Hippo Sleek table for my 240SX, and I just have to modify the brackets a little. Other than that its simple. Pics will be up soon.
Fabulous makes some vehicle specific side tables that mount onto the door.
got pics?
I have an Anceltion side table installed inside my LS4. they hold on to the inside of the window sill crack by two adjustable clips followed by 2 to 3 undertable braces that are adhesive and shaped to the contours of the door. On a side note, it is rather difficult installing curtains over the table but it's possible. I'll post pics of mine installed later this week or next.

What keeps the hooks or whatever from interfering with the window going up and down? Are they felt-padded or something?

The table is mainly held on by double sided tape on 3 or 4 vertical legs. There are a few clips that "hook" the table to the door panel between the panel and the seal for the glass. This should be the same for all vehicles. Here are some pics of the table on our xB... -Steve
yeah but if you got curtains you have to work around the rails for them
How much for one of them Scion tables?
I am planning to ask my local carpenter to fabricate a VIP table for my ride. But I had no ideas how is it mounted on the front? Do we have to take out the front compartment? Can any kind souls show some pics how to mount this table? Thanks!
my table is just mounted on there with 2 screws into the dash, along with 3m tape...
My curtains are the only reasons why I don't have the side tables yet. Any pics of yours installed?
that is true .. what is more important, door tabels or curtains? I think its a personal preffurence, but I have seen them work together w/ some modification.
mine is fitted at the glove box compartment with 3M without any screws...
