1999 VIP RL question.

well I just got my 99 RL and I am super excited to get started on it.. First of I am going to try to purchase some coilovers.. But I cannot find any for the RL everything I find is TL .. My question is does TL fit RL and vice versa? and if not does anyone know where I can get some nice coilovers .. Tein etc etc?

Thanks in advance

If you don't find an answer here I'm sure you can find an answer on an Acura specific forum. Most times when parts fit more than one vehicle they will list all models in the item description.

check with the guys over at acurazine for any specifics on any cross referencing parts possibilities, and for all your VIPstyle needs...... keep your homepage locked in to this site, where we make it happen no matter what a la VIPstyle!

It all depends what type of kit you want to run. Some cost far more than others. If you go coils now, there's still options including that route in them later. Air Runner is a complete bolt on kit but costs quite a bit more (4k+). If you go coils first you can always go UAS bags later with an air ride controller like Easystreet's digital system. A few of my customers have and are going that route. Other options are available too if you have a bit more fabrication skill or know someone or someplace that can handle some mild welding and slight fabrication.

cream white and silver has always been my favorite for the RL.

you need to do 3 things.

1-color the rocker moldings to body color

2-get some sick ass well fitting wheels, the RL is a toughy to fit. But you've already seen the magic wheels right ?

3-slam the crap out of it, slam it so the fender is about 1.5" away from the lip of wheel. You have to make sure to SLAM it. Don't skimp out.

You shouldn't have any major problems when you slam it because you will be on stock bumpers. This will give u the clearance to slam.

Yeah the coilovers from a TL do not match the RL the TL is based of the Honda Accord us TL owners use the same suspension as the 98-02 V6 Accords. I would just bypass coils and go straight to air...Airrunner is a great setup my boy has it on his TL.. You can check acura-legend.com for more info on your car, they have more info on the RL than Acurazine

Older thread but I am looking at coilovers now. In Japan quite a few companies make coilovers for the RL. There are very few coilovers available in North America.

Aimgain
Insurance Group
Algeron
Kei Office
Buddy Club
etc

I have kind of axed my ideas of using air as well. I am looking into the JIC Magic FLT-A2 VIP's right now. Just trying to gather some information on the build quality and such of them. Anyone have any experience with JIC?

Not an option, traditional 5" bags will not fit on the front of an RL.

JIC's have a horrible reputation. Stay away IMO.

I just lost out on a set of Insurance Group coilovers on yahoo auctions. they went for about 90,000 Yen. Who got them? haha

Actually..... they won't fit on a TL either but UAS is working on a kit for the TL (that should hopefully fit the RL) and it should be out sometime this year I believe. Call UAS and ask for Zack for more info, they are all great to work with over there and I know from personal experience that you will not be disappointed!

Thanks! I got some Anceltion coilovers from Yahoo JP. Eliteautostyle got them for me. On clearance so great price! full tap, 15 dampening settings etc. I was gonna go Insurance but these were too good to pass up. I'll post some pics when they arrive.

Wheels should be arriving in a week or so.
