Homemade dash table

I was bored today so after looking through some VIP mags and having extra laminate flooring sitting around, I decided to try and make a dash table for my van. This is what I came out with so far.

I have a small lotion bottle spacing the 2 pieces at the moment.I really don't know if I'll ever finish it off..I was just playing around..If I can get a router, then I'm pretty sure I can "kinna" finish it off. Not the real deal, but just for fun..

Thats what I was thinking.More "girth"..LOL

.Just add one more layer to the top and bottom..I just need a router to get it perfect. I could only do so much with a jigsaw and a table saw. Plus I need to cut circles out for the ashtray/cup holder and squares for the cell/cig holder. Then I need to space them with wood dowels or some stainless steel pegs, trim it with chrome bodyside moldings. I'll return to this when I have time again..

Ha! looks like a very similar design to what i have sitting in my garage. I cut mine out of 16mm MDF so it looks pretty much right, except for the colour. I just want to know where to get the chrome edging, and possibly a wood laminate...

Dom the easiest place for chrome edging is getting 3M chrome tape. I used it on my old celsior to match the chrome strip around the front and back bumpers and they have a range of widths.

I for one would also love to know a good place to get the triple ring (that the proper term?) chrome edging as well as wood laminate.

Looks nice though!

There is a seller on ebay that sells stainless steel cup holders for boats and poker tables. I've seen them used on custom tables and they come out looking pretty good.

Garson also has the cup holder rings, but they are quite expensive. If I remember correctly, they are about $90 each.

A popular mod for EUro's is putting chrome rings around the gauges. Maybe one of these would work

Bored again PT.2

Bored again today so I decide to remake the dash table that I had made earlier..This one mounts above the bottom glove box instead of mounting below the top one:

It was a pain in the arse to make the bottom supports and find a way to attach the table to the dash. Not bad for a guy who has no wood skills and limited wood working tools..

I just need to try and finish it off..again....

looking good man, once you finish this thing it will be sweet. Keep us posted. And just for s**ts and grins add the cost of parts beacuse im sure it will make the imported table prices look silly.
