what do y'all think about having a Gf who is "into" cars (or vice versa)

in another thread I was ranting about my gf who wanted me to fix up my I30t that she drives and we hit on something that is commonly brought up is it good to have a gf or (bf for the ladies or if you're into that sorta thing)

Personally I've had three gfs who are into cars

Girl 1- into her car keeping her car clean, taking care of it and a few mods here and there

Girl 2- into 240s and drifting I hooked her up with an s15 front on her s14, springs and stuff...

Girl 3- into anything nicer than what I have :D haha always wants me to drop money on her car (mine anyways) because I spend so much on my own

first of all its hard to find a girl "into cars" truely and not just into to expensive things or nice brand cars... Girl 3 falls into this category

Girl 1 was cool, she respected the time I put into my car and was not so harsh about the amount of cheese I spent on my car

Girl 2 was ok... problem is we had two s14s, so she always wanted hers to be fixed up and not mine and she always got jealous about my other car an A32 that I had spent alot of $$$ on before I met her and said stuff like this (if you didnt have those wheels on your car you could buy me...)

Girl 3 sucks... into everything including expensive with no taste (20"s ghetto bling not classy stuff) BMWs, Benz's, Lambos etc... doesnt know the first thing about driving or specs.  She drives my I30t and wants me to fix it up but isnt willing to put a penny into it.  always complains that she wants something nicer blah blah (other issues)


I personally do not want another girlfriend "into cars"... I'd rather find a girl who is respectful of my hobby, stays out for the most part (it sucks going to hang out with the guys and the girl ALWAYS tags along, wants to go home early etc.) I need my guy things to do just like she needs her girl things to do.  As I get older, clubbing, drinking, partying will not be acceptable as the "guy thing to do" and the only thing I'll have is cars as my "guy hobby"

does anyone else echo my sentiments or am I just shooting blanks :D

hahaha, I know so many guys with girls like those, however I'm keeping mine for life. She's a hard working girl who's really never been given anything in her life that she didn't work for. We're putting her through college right now and we're about to get her an older Benz (190E 2.3-16v!!!) which she's thrilled about and we're going to put some minor work into it to make it a fun and nice car to drive. Like most ladies she can get a bit put off when I spend a whole weekend in the garage and pretty much only come inside to sleep, but she's very understanding and knows I work hard for the money I spend on my car. As long as we can pay bills she never complains about not having a nicer car than me or anything. She's definitely a keeper :)

I think the ultimate would be a girl who is into it the way I'm into it...competitive, and interested, but who shares similar taste and who I can discuss cars with at length.
And who doesn't bother me about spending all my money on things for the car.

Hmm, my lady owns a black '95 Supra 5-spd NA hardtop in bone stock form. I put up some money to help her get it and she loves that car. Doesn't really care much about my Q45. She's happy with what I do to my car as long as I maintain the Supra and keep it in reliable condition.

I think it awsome to have a lady who would be into cars..Because every time I buy something for my car I have to buy wife something to justify my purchasess for my whip..:shrug:  SHes an excellent wife and thats just how I keep it going..heee hee hee..So you can imagine I am ready to start shopping for aero so she gets something of equal or lesser value.:fairenough:

Mine doesnt  understand it, so anytime I have a show or meet I have to start a fight to get out of the house :)

i can say i was blessed with an awesome lady thats very much into cars. since she was with me before i got the GS i appreciate her likeness of the import tuning scene. now she wants a IS250!

Dude, girlfriend no 3 is not into cars.  She's into getting attention at other people's expense.  There's a fine distinction.

My situation is odd.  My wife wasn't into cars AT ALL when she first met me..it was "hey, nice car..what is it?".  Because it was clean, had wheels, suspension, etc.  But she had no clue.  I am, of course VERY into cars and modifying.  She actually started to learn from being around me and actually listening to what I would say to other people and what I would point out.  She even would walk around with me when I was judging cars and take it in.  Now she knows more than many guys do and is into VIP also and we are building her car together so she can learn from the ground up. Enthusiasm about cars is contagious!

Even my mom is starting to recognize luxury Japanese wheels, and my friends actually enjoy cruise night with me :biggthumpup:
And they sort of know what I'm on about when I'm freaking out over some knockoffs on a nice car.:runcoold:

My woman wont drive in my car says it gets to much attention and thats from when I 1st got it to now......... BUT she likes it when her friends all say I have a nice car. 
 
SO when we do go somewhere together its automatic we jump in her car. The GOOD: She leaves me alone when it comes to cars,  friends,  drinking & staying out late.

I think im in a perfect situation, my gf (one year last wedsday) isnt into cars at all, But she confides in me that everytime she sees my car it turns her on.  :giggity:   Basically she supports and understands what i do, she just isnt into the hobby herself.

My wife used to tell me that all she ever wants is a Benz S-class with a full brabus bodykit and a brabus engine stroker kit.  Her brother is a national dragracer and her uncle still holds the fastest 1/4mile record for subaru in all of indonesia...

I think it woul dbe nice to have a girl with similar interest of equal or lesser likeness. Current gf doesn't understand cars at all and doesn't even want to drive one. Course that could also be the difference between Japanese and american women. Last gf liked cars and would probably be willing to build up a VIP car with the right push from me if we were still together.

I have to say I'm pretty lucky in having found a girl who is interested in anything with a motor in it, just as I am.  I own a small time motorcycle shop, and ride a stretched, slammed, big motor Hayabusa, and she LOVES it.  She's wanted a bike for years before having met me, and now we're working on getting her one of her own so we can ride together.  Her taste doesn't exactly match mine, but she's growing from being strictly interested in imports and mini trucks to truly appreciating all different forms of motorsports and vehicular tuning.

Now if I could just get her to stop worrying so damn much every time I do a three gear holeshot down the block.

Oh, not to mention she drives a WRX with some mods, and does all her own work and buys all her own parts.

I think that gurls that are in too cars are Sexy!!! A definate turn on for me!
Even if she's not that much into cars I still need a Shawty that just wants to sit there and ride!!!!

my chick is into cars, wants to drift her 05s2k but i told her she has a lot to do to get that thing sideways under control.  she thinks my car looks nice but hates that i have always liked mobsta lookin rides.  she wants a hole scrap load of stuff for her ride but i have to pay for it.  ive taught her about quality parts and all.  she was kind of pissed when i bought her a set of staggered racinghart wheels, 3pc even.  "i wanted the work vs-kf's" but she needed new tires and i got them for 750 with new tires. s2k's need custom offsets and bore sizes too, so its hard to find a set of wheels that fit right that arent emotions.

and the best part, she's makes her own money. i own a profitable business and shes still got more dough.  she does hair.  i just bought a house, well we (in my name) but she pays half of the damn $5,000 mortgage and utilities.

No offense, but she sounds pretty spoiled. I'd be happy if someone bought me SportMAX wheels.

just as long as shes not more into it than me... or know more than me... i got me GF into spotting car like nothing... she can identify ucf10's, ucf20's, ucf30's, q45's, etc... makes me proud. just trying to get he in to a VIP platform car..

my boyfriend owns a ls400...  i just bought a is350!  he doesn't mind spending money and enjoys working on his car...  i hate spending money and love fixing up my house!  i was in to drag racing, drifting and wheeling...  so, i can understand why i don't get any gifts from t&co!  nah, seriously...  i understand the expense and why he spends all his free time in the garage!  

i'm glad, there's similar interests...  we can do a bunch of things together!  yet, it's nice to have different interests...  we can learn a lot from each other! 

hmm...  i wonder, if my boyfriend will agree with my post?

My girl use to judge with me for NCCA (don't hold it against us....)  and knows more about cars than some of the owners at the shows.....:thumbsup:  
 
 
She's OK with me buying new wheels for our 2 show cars every other week so she's a keeper.  But i put 22's on her Pathfinder and a full Eclipse system as an extra measure of insurance  :giggity:

My girlfriend likes cars but she feels as if she is just "tagging" along when we head to car gatherings because all I ever do is talk to people. She feels she can't talk to them because she doesn't know much about cars. I try to teach her but she is hesitant at times. But in the end, she supports me in fixing up my van and spending time with the guys.

Norm. I know people should be thankful for even getting a gift. But I bet your gf wasn't into the 3pc RH wheels because thats not her style. I'm picky myself when it comes to what parts go on my van. 
 
I think having a gf that is into cars can be a good or bad in a way. Good - She'll understand for the most part what you're talking about. Bad - She may empty your wallet with this knowledge. :smiley:

Not only did I date a girl who's partially into cars, but I married her too. :shrug: What can I say, she raced me on the freeway on the way to my house, she would cut someone off if they cut me off, she even was excited to build her award winning sentra last year. And she somewhat supports my build now. I'm working on it though. :shrug:

she didnt like them at first, but after i showed it to her rollin she had a huge smile on her face.  she thought 18 was too small, but when you see them rolling they look big, especially with the staggered lips.
