Inspiration

Curiosity, what keeps everyone on here interested in VIP? Is it the tradition, the style, culture, etc? And Why did you choose the platform you are running?

As for me, I was inspired because when I first started going to Auto Fashion, I had saw a Lexus LS430 and thought, man thats a nice car. Then My brother Pancakes got really into it after his accident. Showing me magazines, websites, etc. As his progress came along, I started being more interested in the culture and the cars as well. 

I chose the Y33 because it was in good condition and had a nice white to it :biggthumpup:. No on the real, I was interested in the gs, is 300, g35, fx, etc. A bunch of different options. But I figured why not on the q. And I have yet to regret that decision. 

With this VIP culture and styling, I know am getting better with suspension knowledge, tire length, rims, technology, etc.

What about you guys?

What keeps me here is this ever growing trend of smooth and luxurious stylings that these cars have to offer! They're fun and relaxing to drive and they're something you don't see everyday! Also I like the exclusiveness of the culture! These aren't your typical JDM cars and definatly are in a class of there own. and I'm curious to ride out and see where this culture goes and takes me. PROBABLY to Bankruptcy! LOL!:smiley-rofl:

Love Japan, therefore love the cars. If it wasnt for the love of Japan i might sell out and take an interest in euro styling... Cheaper fuel costs on a Golf!

Well put.

There's a certain attitude the cars exude.  Standing still or rolling (although rolling is always better IMHO) they always have an almost menacing look, like they're crouched down ready to pounce.  I always dug the culture and appreciated the luxury and refinement of the cars used.  Speaking of that, my current project is the epitemy of class and Luxury and is one of the largest reasons I wanted it..well, that and along with how sick the cars look when they're done right.  The Vanden Plas is a great example of supreme  pimpness..haha.

Just by looking at magazines that you cant read and by seeing cars in there isnt what really is what VIP is about to me.  Alot of my influences are the love of cars.  I been in this industry since i was 15 from IMPORT AUTORAMA (if you dont know it was one of the first shows ever) shows to being at the first battle of the imports at LACR.  Like how pancakes say it will brake the bank but in any sport it will cost you(Look at Drag racing and Drifting as example).  Alot of this VIP stuff is alot about pride and honor.  This isnt even a profitable market and it will probably die from being a trend or a fad like everything else.  I do it because i have the love for cars and i always did.  If its what you like stay true dont do it because its a cool thing to do =)

It Started When I Saw 1996 LS400 Put Together By AF. I Was Chillin At Lexus Kickin It With My Mechanic Friend. I See This 1996 LS400 Roll Up On Airbags. I Was Like Damm Thats Sick. Than EMu Wanted My Friend To Put On Some Tires On The Black Fleet. Than I Was Liek Super Damm Those Rims Are Sick. Haha. I Remember When Me And My Lexus Friend Were Lookin At The Tire And The Black Fleet. We Were Like Did Falken Give You The Right Tires Haha. Because Dang Those Things Were Stretch To The Max Yo. We Where Wondering If It Was Safe. Than Saw EMu A Few More Times With The 1996 LS400 Completed. So My 1995 LS400 Is Progressing Really Slowly. Haha. Got Mine Drop On Some Tanabe Spring Bilstein Shocks. Dont Think I Can Handle The Airbags. I Scrap All Over The Place Already. Sitting On IS350 Wheels. Give It That Stock Clean Look Fo Now.

I got into the scene after seeing Samson @ Revision Audio did to his ride. The ViP Styling and ViP scene isn't that intense in the NJ/NY area , so I figured lets build a few ViP Styled cars to bring the interest here.

My inspiration started back in 2001 after buying the MS137 Crown in Japan. When I saw the VIP Cars/VIP Style magazines in the Japanese magazine stands, I was hooked. And the fact that I was doing that type of tuning all by my lonesome in Japan as an American also gave me the drive to continue doing the tuning. I was well on my way to finishing the project I had started, but due to the Galatic Empire in the military leaders in Japan, I was basically forced to come to California in Nov 2003. After getting to California, I end up buying a Scion xB(at the time I could afford) and little did I know that I could had bought a used GS with decent mileage. But I am glad to bought the xB, which I am in the process of getting rid of and get a GS300. And had I not bought the xB, I would had not met Freddie and Elroy till probably later, then when I met them back in 04 during the days at the Fusion Meets for the Scions. I am aware that this type of tuning will break your wallet, but having a nice sedan with a luxurious feel, it's a good feeling. The things I missed the most of being in Japan is getting certain parts, rims, etc a little more cheaper.
