megan coilovers? your thoughts

i got a couple friends with em..... anyone have experiences with them? money is kinda tight now, wanted to get this temporarly until i get enough for my air setup.. reason being so i can start the wheel fitting process, fender adjustments, etc.

Only if it's temporary, and i mean TEMPorary...I have nothing good to say about them, other than they are cheap.

haha..... yea would be temporary.... so what negative things do u have to say?

Cheaply built, don't last long, get "loose" and blow out fast, FAIL, etc..  do I really have to go on?

holy lord no.... haha... in terms of coilovers, what would your personal recomendation be?

I'd say go with a company who builds only suspension.  That's your best bet.  All their attention has been focused towards that goal.

if youd say what kindn of car you had it influences decision

certain coils are only made for certain cars

i have megans on the mr2 and have no complaints other than the fronts dont get too low, also have then on a few 240s here locally and no complaints there either. 

but i can say 900 for a new set of coils ehhh  its got to be better than a used set of "in good condition" pricer coils...  the last set of hks coils i had on the mr2 were used... 1100 and they were going to crap. i refuse to buy used anymore.

Maybe you don't drive too hard..not saying that to put you down..but I have friends who were on a budget and busted them drifting.  I know this isn't drifting, but they switched to other coilovers like KW and Cusco and didn't have those problems ever again.  I also know in the Civic community they've had issues with them breaking/failing as well.

you should always buy used coiloevrs with the pretense you are going to rebuild them

oh ya suspension is going on a 98 ls400.... im now looking into the tein cs setup... the only thing i cant figure out is how low they can drop... plus they dont have the ability to drop the car without changing the shock stroke.... i dunno.... im gonna do more research b4 i make any decisions...

i dont drift but i sure do drive the hell out of the car... i guess another note would be that the mr2 has had maybe 5k put on her this year and rairly gets driven in wet weather.  the driving that car has been built for is road racing and i have had only one off course excursion so far and that only included two wheels...

well as far as teh mr2 community is concerned thay are great valued coil overs; so i will still sand behind them until i get to see it otherwise.

Maybe the MR2 coils were somehow made differently, fair enough on that.

I had some on my 240sx and they lasted about a year going to one drift event a month on an underpowered car.  I sold the car after that, so don't know how much longer they made it.  My first choice is always Cusco or any of the other Japanese brands. Oh, and never ever buy used coils unless you get a super super super cheap price and rode in the car they were on just before they took them out.  All my comments are for Drift not VIP.

Speaking of "cheap" coilover suspensions,what you guys think of KSport.I was thinking of using them with the UAS bags but I dunno.

I would put Ksport on the same level as D2 since from what I hear they are manufactured by the same people.  Not the greatest you could buy, but certainly not the worst.

slammed all the way with tein cs...the ride quality is second to none but the drop isn't great...i would go with tein flex...

i dont know if this helps but why  would u spend around 900.00 for temporary if ucan use that money for air. i mean 900.00 is alot of money to waste especially if the coilovers your planning to buy is gonna be hard to resell. i have nothing bad to say about megan or other companies. infact megan used my car for their 1st gen gs r&d. imho i would just save up and get the air. patience will save u alot of money in the long run.

Ksport is the bottom of hte barrel APC crap

the rear is so overdampened its rediculous
if i had a car with no shocks and eveyone was sold out of every other suspension i STILL Woudlnt get it
and i tested a set for a company on my stagea, hated them

The problem with K-Sport is they apparently the dampers are very inconsistent, even within a set.
People have many different experiences with them. So, not good for racing/drifting, but I guess if you're not picky about damping, a decent solution for getting low, especially with the adjustable shock body.
 
I'm looking to get KSports, because my car is going downhill too fast for me to justify air suspension anymore, and I [i]will[/i] need to get lifted for winter. They wouldn't be my first choice, but since all my first choices are discontinued and increasingly hard to find, K-Sport fills the blank.
