can anyone tell me why in alot of the Japanese VIP cars have custom vents cut out of there front bumpers, usually on the lower part of the bumper spoiler? I have been noticeing it more and more and in this latest VIP mag it was incredible to see so many cars with these cut outs??? Can some one explain. Thanks!

It's a trend. Been being done for a while too. Part of it is almost a roots thing...which I mentioned a while ago.

Interesting how some of them only had them on one side......does not look balanced. Not really feeling the vents......looks "sporty" to me....IMHO.

Haha, there's more poserish things going on than most people think. You hit the head of one of the nails though.

Well, they can be or in my case they are used for a side marker, it's mostly a style thing.

One poserish trend which luckily didnt take off was the fake intercoolers on the front of vip cars... That was a bit cheesy!
I'm not a fan of the vents, but like alot of these trends, i will probably get used to it

That would be the reason why its popular there... Alot of the vip modifications are just european style bumpers and accents... but done with a japanese flair!

Definitely not a function thing...just a trend like everyone said. The Japanese aren't immune you know! haha

I think it looks good. I don't see why everyone is so concerned about it being fuctional. VIP cars (for the most part) are not designed to go quick. I think they give the kit a nice little touch without over doing it. Its like the car saying "Look I got a kit" but the kit is so simple that one would not even notice if those vents were not there which is a good thing IMO

Well, K-break Complete kits all come with those 'vents' for vans and kei cars. I think its something alot of kit manufacturers might start putting in as standard

Of course it has function!
Its function is to draw attention to the front bumper.
I think it does very well at that function.
