who overhauls-rebuilds struts-coilovers ?

there's been so much talk of strut overhauls and rebuilds.

just curious who would rebuild them ? and how much does it normally cost ?

I want to be prepared in case I ever need to do so.

I assume whoever built your coilovers would have to rebuild them. Every manufacturer has different valving and fluids I assume. Didn't you have some KYB SR struts for sale a while back, still for sale?

I have been hearing that certain motorcycle shops are sometimes able to rebuild shocks. Its usually best to the have the manufacturer do it if possible. In some cases theyll just sell you the strut body and you can do it yourself.

Whatever company made your suspension would be the ones to overhaul them.  Every company has different components (especially when it comes to valve adjustments) so its best to go each respesctive company.  Each company will have their own prices also.  Generally, Tein is cheaper and faster, HKS and Endless are more expensive and take longer. Good luck trying to get JDM coilovers overhauled (you'll have to send it back to Japan and wait, and wait, and wait.....)

Not all jdm coilovers need to be sent overseas. I know for a fact Zeals can be rebuilt in the LA. IIRC Jics can be rebuilt in the US but their is shitty beyond belief. I hear they are getting better though.

I'm sure there are 3rd party machine shops that are capable of dis-assembling  coilover struts and re-building them.

I'm sure Tein usa here in torrance california sends them out, I'm sure JIC here in southern cali sends them out, [B]SO WHO DO THEM SEND THEM OUT TO? [/B]it doesn't take a freaking genius to dis-assemble a coilover strut (if it is able to dis-assemble),

Well JIC has the parts to rebuild it.  They mostly use replacement parts to rebuild it.  Also same with TEIN.  If you wanted someone to rebuild the shock then you would have to go to a shock manufacture and it would probably cost the same.  U can try calling up Billstein and they might be able to change out the gaskets and refill the gas.

does bilstein have  headquarters here in southern cali ?

Yes there located down in San Diego.  Nothing that i know of up in your area.
