G50 project family hauler

Dunno why, but this stupid car keeps getting uglier and too much is happening too fast, so I'm gonna do a little build up documentary to cover the progress.  Well, to start, I got this car based on finding a president front end conversion.  Well actually, 2 cars one of which didn't run and ended up having a bad motor which became a parts car and another gold one that ran.  Then it turned into selling my DD 240sx and trading my JUN intake manifold to another friend for a set of Fabulous wheels he had sitting around.  Gold car had springs and tokiko blues on it to start and was pretty fresh an ran well.  After stealing some tires from Brian.  Thanks Dunlop!!, I began fitting the car to the wheels which quickly exposed lots of cancerous holes.  Awesome.  So I called my Body Man and he checked it all out and said he could come by and fix it and to just get the wheelwells where I wanted.  I only planned on fixing the rust and throwing the wheels on and getting coilovers.  Next thing you know, we're fitting the trunk on, fixing rust and then I get informed that PPG wants to help me out with materials so now considering painting the whole car, we end up taking off the door handles, shaving the antenna and fitting the President front.  Well, once the front was on, the fucking bumper is HUGE!!!  Now I need aero and the front bumper is 2.25"  off the ground and I still have fender gap.  Now I need air and have been trying to sort it all out.  Any ideas on how I should do it??  I am ok at fabbing stuff and have all equipment I could ever need.  Bags, sleeve bags, cylinders.  Let me know what you think.  Burn me up if need be and my style is lameness in your eyes.  This thing is getting out of hand.  Hopefully it'll be worth it.  I love the car and for some reason have put more time in it than my corolla which I believe to be the illness.

trunk on.  My dumbass shut the trunk and don't have a key for it and had to reach in from the DS taillight hole.  Got sticky black shit in my armpit hair.  Very pleasant.

Thank guys.  I'm trying.  Kinda sucks cause I bought this car as a daily driver.Some progress today.  Pulled all the locks and ignition from the parts car today because it had all three oem keys and the gold one only came with one.  Kinda cool cause I got to learn how to take door handles off.  Came in handy cause when the body guys got here, I had already taken the handles out for them.  I try to help with whatever I can but I'm no body guy and I know it so it limits my usefulness.  I got to relocate the hood latch  since the core support on president must be different and nothing just bolts up.  Fitting up front end shit and take shit apart and clean off tape residue was interesting.  Learning alot about body work now.  Pretty cool stuff.  They've been stripping alot of stuff down to bare metal.  Like the whole car.  It's pretty crazy.  Looks worse every day.  Yup.  Snapped some shots.

So how do you mean nothing bolts up? 
 Fenders should atleast bolt up.  I know you need a radiator support and core support. for like the headlights and  front bumper.

What all came with your conversion?

Fenders bolt up from the door to  3 bolts forward at the top.  The front upper bolts are off and the core support must have the last upper bolt provision which is not there on the Q.  The front section that bolts into the front of the core support is totally off but had material to hammer flat and drill to use one of the Q's existing bolt holes.  The bumper bolts right up with whatever brackets were on it.  The hood latch on the Q is like 2" in and too high so I had to relocate it forward and down.  Headlights attach to the fenders and I still gotta make brackets to where ther would attach to the core support.  They sit like 3" farther forward.  The conversion came with hood, fenders, aftermarket bumper of unknown make, headlights, trunk, tails.  Trunk bolts on.  Tails go right on.  Looks like the rear bumper may be a bit different looking at the lower trunk/taillight line but I got aftermarket shit coming and some kick ass body guys.  Lights and whatnot plug in like they belong there with the exception of the bumper sidemarker which is different.  Headlights have little city lights in them.  I feel like I'm back in '95 but these are cool.  Gotta have Brian do some engine freshening with valve cover gaskets and all new hoses.  Thinking about a bunch of powdercoated engine parts but air susp is a bit more important now.  I can save that for the spare motor I'm rebuilding.  Car needs boost and manual trans and I might be able to leave it alone.

I don't know anything about body work other than sanding and hammering shit.  I actually have a shop in Baltimore and we build alot of Nissan race cars. [url]www.ma-motorsports.com[/url] is the site.  It needs to be updated.  It's turning into an online store or something for some reason.   I basically build cages, headers,motors, transmissions and sit in cars with my laptop on the dyno all day. This is way different for me.  Just figured I'd build a 4 door car since I got a little girl on the way.   Well, hopefully it turns out good.

I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings.  Haha.  I got a kick ass deal.  I sold a bunch of useless shit I had laying around the shop on ebay.  I have no clue what they go for or what they are worth.  As it sits I have about 3500 bucks in it and that amount keeps going down as I sell stuff off the parts car and the front end parts off this one.  I'm poor so this car is on a strict budget and is relying on people helping me out that I've helped out throughout the years.  Bout time!!

Some pics from Sunday while I was waiting to go to the airport.  Made some headlight brackets outta some aluminum.  Had to dimple it to make it rigid enough.  Also took the red leds from the rear side markers and stuck them in the city light holes. It has pinkeye now.  Now at least the headlights don't move when you push them.

No shit!!!  It's been  long while. How ya been???  It started when we hired this guy Ben with a sick Y33.  Then I wanted one after JR got a GS300 1st gen.  Now I got this POS.  Getting ready to put together some air susp so I can put this thing on the ground.  You should come by and check out the new shop.  It's crazy.  Got RB datsuns and 2 RB26 Z32's.  2JZ S14, my SR20 AE86, RB25 full build Nissan Frontier and all kinds of other crazy shit.  And the regular drift cars.  Probably gonna twin turbo the Q come spring.  Or 2JZ??  Def manual trans.  I want to shoot myself driving an automatic.  Yup.  Got my aero in today so gonna be fitting shit up and building suspension shit.  Gotta pick some sort of color.  Shit's moving along nicely.

damn i gotta step it up with the g50 crew....sweet president conversion bro..its gonna be bad ass when its done.

I was considering buying it for awhile cause i have an obsession with G50's... they are like crack... you own one and you hate it cause it's a POS but for some reason you can't get enough of it after it's gone.. haha

Ok...  We got a lil crazy tonight and are building a bumper that's a combination of OEM and aftermarket.  Should be interesting.  Actually, it's awesome.  I got a bunch of colors sprayed out on cards to look over.  I hate picking colors.  I'll bring my camera in on Friday and shoot this madness.

That's basically how Kidzik did my bumper. Kinda of a pain in the ass but may have been easier if I didn't hack it up first. Kidzik had to put most of the chopped Aftermarket bumper back together before he could re-chop it up himself. :pat:

Word.  I can only try.  Update of sorts...  Got alot of colors last night.  I really like the BMW barrique red and Harley Candy Burgandy.  Ben brought a 350z color to my attention called Brickyard or something.  Looks cool in computer monitor, so hopefully my painter can have a sample sprayed of that tomorrow for me to see in person.  Needs those purples. Yeah.  Inside peanut butter, outside jelly!!

Alright,  Decided I did not like door caps.  Dunno, just looks like too much.  So now.  Making side skirts from scratch.  Should be interesting.  I wish I wasn't so damn picky. I am glad my body guy is a mad scientist and makes what I want happen.  This stupid car keeps getting more and more complicated to put together.  I guess that's my style.  I hate body kits.  Always something about them I don't like.  Fuck it, I'm gonna make my own.  I don't know the first thing about it but ok.  Hopefully it ends up finished one day.  Bout to get some air susp goodies here.  That should be interesting.   ETA for paint is 3 weeks at this rate which sucks.  Hopefully next week will be sweet with actual progress pics and not just me being anal and cutting everything up and starting new. Goal is rear bumper on Monday and begin making skirts.  Hopefully have skirts done this week.  Kinda gay cause I only work on this thing after hours on days that the body guy can come down which is like 2 a week. I need to get air susp here so I have something to do.

Ok.  There is slowly progress being made.  Settled on a PPG color called ruby slippers. It's a lil crazy but whatever. Paint is in and should be finishing up the side skirts and bumpers over the next few weeks.  Haven't really touched the car much.  Got all the rear arms now off JR's wrecked race car.  Think I'm stuck on coilovers now VS air.  Planned on doing UAS bags but not sure on fitting in front.  Car should get destroyed pretty quick.  It'll look good for a second though.  I'll update pics soon.

Car is at paint shop finally.  Can't wait to get it back.  Still need suspension, but whatever. Haven't really taken any pics.  Been too busy to deal with it.  Will supply some when I get the car back for sure.

Just been super busy.  Got a shop overfilled with cars.  This car and a '53 chevy turbo diesel project.  Lame people bring me half ass cars built by hack ass shops to tune that fall apart on the dyno  has been the recent string of nightmares.  Just had a little girl.  Me being to chill with the body guys telling them there's no rush.  Seems I'm gonna be able to pick up the pace and get this shit done.  Hell, I'm typing on a forum so I must have some free time.  Nevermind, it's 2AM here and I'm just getting home from work.  Stupid cars. Can't wait to get done and shoot it, sell it and start another project.  I may have to drive it for a week or so though.

Car is looking sick as hell you should post some updated pictures.

Bodywork all done.  They said it was refaced whatever that means and ready for primer and paint.  Might be done one day.  Was planning to just sell it once done to start another project(need another performance car), but I just might tag this thing and drive it since I'm starting my super duper '53 chevy mega ride that should satisfy that requirement!!!  still need suspension.   Anyone done air on this chassis.  Do the UAS bags fit??  If air doesn't work out, hydros will be next on the list.  You guys will def be one of the first to see pics as this is the only build thread for the car that I actually update since I rarely internet for anything other than information gathering.  I want to see it done too.  I've never actually had a car painted and have owned quite a few cars.

Car still at paint shop.  Shit gets done slow when you don't rush people.  Shit's gonna be out of style by the time it's done.  Still got it I think.  Car is 1.5 hrs away and I haven't seen it since I dropped it off.  I forget that I have it sometimes.  Oh well.  I got one of their cars here till I get mine back.  Hopefully I get it in time to plow snow.  We'll see.  Keep selling all my cars and getting new ones.  Volvo wagon project now!!!  Not VIP but maybe I'll put a table in it to be cool.  If that's still cool that is???

yeah thats a problem with a lot of body shops. when u know them they have a tendency to take forever. and if u rush them too much they take there time to piss u off. happened to my friend took them 3 months to paint his car.

We got another car back from painter that wasn't mine.  I have a RX7 for them to do too but told them I gotta get my car first.  I wish I had time to go there and take pics but I don't.   They said it's ready to spray but they haven't had time and it's been sitting under a car cover.  We'll see.  They probably parted it out by now.  I haven't even seen the car since April.  HAHA.  I'm not shooting for any sort of perfection.  I probably won't even drive it.  Just let it sit under a car cover at my shop.  We'll see when I get it back what sort of new inspiration I have with it when I see it all painted.  At this point, I'm over it.

i'm suprised with this amount of shop time it didnt end up w/ a RHD conversion.... since you do welding @ your work and more.

if they arent done painting it. let it wait. this is nothing my R was in the BODY SHOP for 6 months. before i lit a fire under their ass. pulled it out 2 weeks later. took it to my other paint guy. and it was there for 3 days. took him 3 days to fix all the crap the other shop did. reblock it and paint the car, jams. engine bay, floor trunk and everything that ugly ugly yellow.

but seriously post some pictures. plz? yah! since i havent really seen a Prez front end in USA.

Lol.  Just got a call earlier today saying that it's all painted minus the bumpers.  I haven't seen the car in well over a year now.  I forgot I had it.  Shit's outta style now for sure.  I built a Volvo 740 wagon with TT supra motor last month.  Not VIP but sweet daily.  Is this G50 even worth finishing??  I guess I'm sort of over it since it's been so long.  I really don't know what to do.  Prob just sell it or trade it.  I'll at least post pics when I get it back if I ever do.  I would have updated but I never had anything to say.  I miss the car, but at the same time, forgot I even had it.  Maybe I'll have some new found interest once it makes it's way back to my shop.

maybe drop in an RB, drift it and call it a day... but please dont get rid of it...

I have no interest in drifting anything ever.  I like riding in drift cars.  That's about it.  It's judged and I can't get over that.    Lol.  I'd  twin turbo the V8 before swapping in an RB.  That engine belongs in a much lighter car.

Never gonna believe it,...  Picking it up from the body shop tomorrow.  Not 100 percent done, but should be interesting to see it again.  Haven't seen it since I dropped it off.  Lol.  Will update with pics as soon as.

I don't think it's been in style for anything but bass boats for fifteen years.  I just picked the most retarded color I saw.  It's def not a classy color.  I gotta do the carpet in white alcantara now and build in shoe holders in the door panels.  Lol.  Didn't take it out of the trailer yet.  Got 2 more cars to tune tomorrow,then I'll unload it.  I did peek at it and it looks to have made it intact.  Not sure if I can afford to finish it quickly without help, so it may sit a while longer or get sold.  Not sure yet.

Thanks man.  Volvo is about to undergo some minor surgery again.  Been running great, but now swapping R154 in and a Bullseye 366 and some fuel, governed by a Pro EFI 128.  Should do 600ish at the ground on pump.  Gonna finally pull the Q out of the trailer today.  Was stuck on the dyno till like 10 last night and didn't feel like moving the dyno to get the car in.  Still haven't seen it in the sun.  Yeah, I know, I'm a slacker.  I'll get pics going today and host tonight.

Lol.  Finally coming together.  Planning the audio and interior work.  Got some gangsters on board to help with that end.  Probably gonna just rear mount turbo this thing to have a lil performance.  You know me.  Can't leave it slow.  You should come by and see it if it's sunny.  Pics don't do it justice. Painters trying to have  it done for ocean city car show or something.  I don't know.  I'm trying to work on my Volvo and not this thing right now.  I hate cars.

Your car is pretty damn sweet.  Gotta ditch that open diff though.  Sounds good too.  I gotta get back on this car soon.  Been too busy.  Still haven't washed it.  Probably get back to it in a few weeks.  Thinking about suspension options and doing some interior and audio planning.
