What's a good air freshener?

I'm curious to what you guys are using for air fresheners if you have any. My car doesn't smell like anything right now, but it wouldn't hurt to have something that smells fresh. I've been thinking about using Febreze on my carpet, but not sure if that's a good idea.

I was at Auto Fashion one day and a customer came in the shop and noticed they had Squash car freashners for sale and he went crazy "WHEN DID YOU GUYS START SELLIN SQUASH" "I'LL BUY ALL OF THEM" I had no idea about squash. Thought of it as just a ugky vegtable. So I was told squash is like one of those trendy things to have for your car in the import seen. So I tried one day and it's actually not bad. I've had mine for over a month now and still has alot in it!

the squash is my fav, and the apple is great too.

I think BBQ ribs would be a nice scent.

i use those GLARE squash air fresheners you find at japanese stores and they smell great, i also got em because they looked nice for luxury cars.

i had squash. It was in a glass can with chrome lid, and it was called smooth squash. Smelled a lil more minty then regular squash, the gel was black with glitter in it..looked cool.

But spilled everywhere..

Only thing i dont like about them is i kinda want it hidden, and i had to keep these in the back armrest of the Q .

I just picked up one at target ( New CAR Platinum smell) $8.99... Clipped it to the rear air vent of the Q it smells like a rich cologne. :smiley:

I purchase the LS 460 sent a while back from JP and  it lasted about 2 weeks...

I have been using Air Spencer squash for years. I love this stuff. Girls like too! They last for about a month.

Air Spencer Squash, has to be the best air freshner by far.  Both my brother and mom have strong allergies, and when they ride in my car the squash air freshner doesnt bother them at all.  Its not too strong, but the smell lasts forever.  I keep one in my air purifier box, so when I turn it on the car gets filled with squash goodness...hehe...

I have the same thing in my car but i hide that spencer thingy.  I buy refills for it in squash scent.  Whats wrong with that?  Is there another kind of "squash" that i am missing here?  pic?

I had a Japanese lady from work translate the Air Spencer squash package before and it said something about lime soda. It's not suppose to smell like the squash vegetable.

I don't know,I've been using the CS-X3 squash air freshener for like 4 years and I love it.they don't last that long but they smell damn good to me.I ordered the squash air freshener spray from ebay and I'll let you guys know how it smells when it comes in.

Ive never really been into scents (hot leather smell always did it for me) but you guys have me so damn interested in what this "squash" smells like im going to try it!

The comment on the box says "full of natural lime!" so i assume its like "lemon squash" flavour

I can't really describe it, I have been in a LS460 and It the JP smelt a tad stronger...

Hard to describe NEW CAR smell, JP is good stuff but air freshener :sad:... better if it lasted longer.

I have to smell this squash air freshener, from what I am thinking and have experienced :smiley: squash can smell pretty bad. At least if its left in the crisper to long....lol!

we all appreciate your opinion, but this is about suggesting air fresheners not just your opinion...i see the one you suggested, and i've never tried it...so i'll be sure to look for it:)

I just bought both today, the Air Spencer CS-X3 Squash and the My Shaldan squash. From smelling both, they smell similar, but yea I agree that the CS-X3 Squash smells a little more like bubble gum, and the My Shaldan Squash seems to smell more like Citrus. I think I'm going to stick with the My Shaldan squash for now until I get my hands on that other Air Spencer Squash, the AS version.
 
I saw those as well, but I'm curious if they are any better than the 2 I've mentioned.

According to my Air Spencer GIGA packaging, my current scent is "shitorasu" aka 'citrus'.
Smells good, but the car has to be clean, otherwise there's a mess of scent that becomes sickening. I like being able to open and close it though, so I can sort of preserve the scent when I'm rolling with the windows down.

Whats the difference between pure and volume squash??They also offer water and Fine squash.Have you tried any these other versions??Which one smells the best in your opinion??

I was always a fan of the conditioned leather smell especially Zaino leather in a bottle.  Thanks for the heads up on that Johnee.  Im going to have to try this squash stuff out.  Everyone is going nuts over it.

Long time MY SHALDEN user. Citron and Lime are long lasting air fresheners. Just when you think they are spent and all dried out they get stronger. I have been wanting to try MY SHALDEN squash, but the damn asian marts around here never have it and I have told them to get it several times. I do recommend that you guys stop by your local asian store and pick up a my shalden they last hella long and they're cheap too...go ahead and get one for the office too. Ladies love it.:biggthumpup: OH YEAH DON"T LEAVE IN THE SUN, IT WILL BUBBLE UP AND LEAK!!!

About 10 years ago, my friend's mom would always have one in all of her cars, and they smelled pretty damn good. I'm just now getting around to trying one in my own car (squash). My girl's cousins rock them in their bathrooms, lol.

pure (granes) & volume (glare) is two different brand, yet the same company (carall).
from what my nose tells me, pure is softer, and volume is stronger "perfume" scent  to it. a-360 has a tinge of lime to it.

the "glare" is a goo gel type freshner, or should i say, "Parfume" instead.

my shaldan is great for the price but the "look" of the can is to cheap, but if you were to "show" yur Parfume glass bottle, then GLARE has the flare.

GRANES has transparent blue plastic sleave cover over a plastic chrome container.

im more towards the "Executive", so i lean to "GLARE" Volume.

I agree that I like the smell that zaino leaves but it doesn't last..Thats why Im trying the Glare volume squash..:biggthumpup: Thanks for the suggestion Bippu!...I should get it in a few days Ill let you know how and if I like..

Alright,I just got my "JDM air freshener squash spray" from ebay and............it SUCKS!!!!its smells like dish washing liquid and there is barely any smell.I just wasted $24.don't buy it.

When I was at the carshow w/ Augdogg, somebody had the peach scent one and reminded me why I used to get the tree ones! Peach & pina colada!!!! But I stopped using them cause they tend to melt to the inteior trim! :sad:

i picked this up from myshaldan.com because it had the woodgrain on it. it's a bit lighter than the dark wood grain on the Y33s but it still looks good on my dash. it says it only last 4-5 weeks but it smells soooo good!

I can see that carall have alot of different squash fresheners.

A434 Rich Squash
A360 Squash
A411 Pure Squash
A284 GV Squash
1075 Fine Squash

Has anyone tried all of them? Or some of them?

I find the "my shaldans" to be the best bang for buck.

I bought these on Ebay, wood grain Carall air freshner comes with Platinum Shower scent and bought extra squash refills. I always use Air Spencer Veneto squash, never tried Carall.

my shaldan does last long, but the can is soo awful to display. most of us just tuck the can under the seat. i want to display mine on a table.

i bought the GRANES pure squash too, but havnt used it yet. im still enjoying the GLARE. like you said darkwind, GLARE has a subtle scent and not strong.

Damn, this thread is full of information, so many types of air fresheners, and to think, I was initially looking at some flimsy Glade vent air freshener from walmart, lol. Thanks to everyone for giving input, I really appreciate it.

Just picked up my Carall Glare, Squash, Fine Squash and Water Squash from the postoffice.
I think they all smell the same, but they smell good :)

My original Air Spencer is still smelly...it's been over half a year, at least. I got it last winter.

If anyone is interested I have 2 extra carall GLARE squash freshners that I will sell.
1-Fine squash 
1-Volume squash

i used to use the veneto squash, but can't seem to find the refills anymore. my distributor told me they quit making htem and now all they have is csx-3.
Now i just use the squash in the white can like the pic on page 1.

I just got my carall Glare squash. It seems great! The jiggily glitter in it was unexpected and awesome. It vibrates when the bass hits hard :-P

I`ve been driving around with the Carall Glare Squash for over a week now and I`m just loving the scent. I`m looking forward to it everytime I getm into the car.
My father went for a ride with me this weekend and he was like, DAMN SON, whats that good smell. I had to show him the Glare and he just had to get one himself  in his BMW.

I use one of those California Scent can thingys that i open up and jam under one of the front seat rails and the floor. The AC/heater vents under the seats help to disperse the scent and they last for months. I personally dont like to have whatever I'm using as an air freshener in view and some can be overpowering when you first open them.

febreeze is nasty smell...like cheap cologne.    It's suppose to be odorless but you can smell that shit.   It's better to put fabric softener sheets under the seats if you want that kind of smell.

as for the items mentioned above....  The apple squash smells delicious...like you want to eat it.    I would look into Tree Frog and buy a big ass box of them...they are cheap and will last you a long time.     It's so cheap I open a couple for the front and rear seats.

right now I just use the good old CSX3 squash refills and hide it.

If I had money to burn I'd buy a bunch of Glare Volume Squash cause it smells good and looks cool but for now I'm going with the Tree Frog ones.

best bet is to go air spencer no matter what flavor iv used it n love it i also used the sented beads that come in a tube forgot the name but was horrible wasent strong nuff

You know, I LOVE it but my wife HATES IT and whats funny is that she said the same thing: smells like vomit and bubble gum...

I do wanna try Glare or a different type of Squash. I had Bluge at one point and it is AWESOME :biggthumpup: but it is hard to find in stores even in Japan. :signdammit:.. It would be so cool if we could do like a group buy or something like that. Whomever has not tried it you sure missing out.

I run TreeFrog or MyShaldan (BlackTopBlueGel TreeFrog)or(MyShaldan Orange) with a BENZ centercap I rigged for the top LOL...can't even tell I smoke in my car - they do need to be replaced often though...I forgot the name brand but I picked one up at Smart & Final once - same cupholder style but it was in an aluminum looking can, grapefruit or orange flavors. It was alright, but wore off quicker than MyShaldan or TreeFrog.

The Apple Squash does smell like squash but on a fruity side, not sure it makes me want to eat it like the other guy said, but its ok. The Sazan Squash is ok too, just a little different than the original AS Squash, like more of a cooling scent.  So far the AS Squash is my favorite.

after reading all the positive comments of the glare volume squash, I ordered one and just got it today. DAMN this smells good. It's like a cs-x3 with citrus. Didn't expect the glass to be so small though

for geological reference here in portland oregon area the blue air spencer. squash i think it is is more commonly referred to as french *****. and is probably the most popular of all air fresheners evar!!

I use to love Air Spencer squash but I made the switch to these guys. Not strong but maintains a steady sweet scent. Its girl approve. Oh, it lasts a long time. About 2months/ 8 weeks.

Usually if you keep your windows up the scent can last along time but even longer for cars with cloth interior instead of leather.

So i was lurking on a detailer forum about cleaning a conditioning leather and I noticed most of the detailers say their customers preferred a new car smell or new leather smell instead of a citrus or fruity smell? What do you guys prefer? I honestly wouldn't mind hopping into my car if it smelled like the leather was fresh.

any good fresheners that are comparable to the Junction Produce ones?  i saw one that said Rolls Royce Phantom smell.  cant find anywhere that sells it though, and they didnt get back to me.  and ALL leather smelling ones i found in pep boys, wal mart, etc dont smell like new car leather.  

also, i just ordered the Squash on Ebay for $11 shipped.  it was the one with the box that has limes, not the splashy water.  from air spencer.

giga aftershower, by far best iv used has a awesome sent, a fresh clean legit aftershower smell, lol had crystal sent by air Spencer it's ok but highly recommond the aftershower

I love the smooth cologne "shiny jewel" smells like a hot ass chick jumped out of the shower and into your car, lol that hows the homies explained it and to be honest it's right on point.  Unfortunately they're expensive (8.99 here in west la) and don't last to save their life

Damn, myshaldan's around here in Vegas at the asian stores are $2.50 each. The non-asain stores and car wash places sells them for $5-6 bucks.

Honestly, as good as some of the 'jdm' scents are, Little Trees Vanillaroma and Coconut are still my favourites.

The Miata smells ****ing good.

I've tried Yankee candle & glade car fresheners, they're pretty good but the glade ones dont last long...

I use this. To me, this is the strongest, long lasting air freshener I've ever used compared to any other brand. It's a cheap walmart air freshener (about $2 a freshener) but it does the job for me! I started off with 2 fresheners in my front cup holders, then when I got my next pay check I just moved those 2 to the rear cup holders and picked up 2 more fresheners. Really strong since there's 4 now. I always replace my fresheners every pay check. Just throw away the rear ones, move the front fresheners to the rear, and replace the front with new ones. :thumbsup:

I always stick with air spencer original squah. Keep it in the glove box and it won't be quite as overwhelming of a smell.

I am all about that JDM squash. I don't know why Japan's squash smells so much better than ours but damn...
