I wouldnt recommend any flagships or full sized lux. Because the first thing he said was "get around without wasting alot of gas"

A LS or a Q would be the opposite. I go thorugh about $150-200 a week just for gas.

And if your worryed about money saving, a project car is not the way to go, and a VIP car is just going to kick you in the nuts for your wallet.

Get a 1st gen Infiniti I30. Pretty cheap car that is good on gas and has the potential to have that "look".

Thats not an exaggeration. I used to do the same when I used to drive to work. V8's are not great for city driving. Not so bad on the highway though if you keep it around 60mph

I would look for an old cressida and style that up...It has a semi big body, 4 doors and lots of potential. Besides you may find one sorta cheap. BTW back in the day it was aka Mark II.

If 5000 is what you have to spend then I'd hold off. Most of these older vehicles will need maintenance done before you can even start modding.

I'd say the i30 as it's more recent and a kit might be easier to find.

Are there Millenia/Efini/Eunos 800 VIP rides in Japan? Too bad Mazda's luxury car marquees barely launched.

are you automotive inclined? i mean can you wrench? id say go for a 90-94 ls400, or a 94-96 q45/g50. do your research about it, carfax it, if you do check it out take it to a service station and have them check it out the engine/ under the car/etc for you. take it to a body shop and have them check the body to see if its been repainted. see if that person has service records, check if when you turn the key if all the dash lights light up, mainly the check engine light....

with your budget, you might be able to find a high mileage car but some of them are in good condition for its mileage....

fawk all that jazz..

S class or NO class.

you can pick up a W126 or W140 LWB with plenty of engine variations if gas prices are hurting you..

3.0L SOHC L6 turbo diesel
3.5L SOHC L6 turbo diesel

2.8L DOHC L6
3.0L DOHC L6

3.8L OHV V8
4.2L OHV V8
5.0L OHV V8
5.6L OHV V8
6.0L OHV V8

5.0L DOHC V8
5.2L DOHC V8
5.4L DOHC V8
5.6L DOHC V8
6.0L DOHC V8

6.0L DOHC V12
6.3L DOHC V12

because so many people are bitching about gas prices, you can buy a mercedes benz flagship for $5000 if you shop around. they come standard with all the luxury options that most people spend a grip on for a typical basic toyota or nissan. hell, i say bag it, fit some massive wheels, kit it and call it a day. you can tuck rediculous huge wheels on them, air suspension is easy as cake, you can get a kit from JP, Wald, Lorinser, ABC exclusive, Carat Deuchalet, AMG (widebody), Brabus, Koenig Special (widebody), ect, ect.. thick cushy carpets, curtains, puddle lights, REAL woodgrain, RWD, power EVERYTHING, chrome in all the right places, no plastic in the interior.. look around craigslist or something and find a private seller if you want a great deal.

Mazda 929 Serenia/Sentia/Efini MS-9 6-Cyl RWD -> http://vipstylecars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=969&highlight=official+thread

I live in Montreal and have found used examples under $2000 in Canadian dollars. If you look hard enough, you'll be able to find some gems in good condition at bargain prices.

Personally, I'm picking up a 1993 Mazda 929 in great condition (Driven for 10 years by an old man, then sitting on the side for special occasions for the passed 4 years) leather, electric everything, cd fully loaded with 166.000km on the odo or about 103,000 miles. All for $1250 Canadian dollars. The other 3k+ can be used for tune up and some new wheels! The only problem is finding parts. But it guarantees exclusivity!

Yeah, and if you rock a first gen GS 300, maintenance won't be too expensive, just go to Toyota and get the corresponding parts from an early NA supra. You won't have to pay Lexus markup.

i mean i like the ls400 and gs300 like the 1 aristo have but some can cost a lil too much i search craigslist and such most of them it way over 5k and there mileage sucks also gas can be an issue with me living near DC stop go type of traffic so i was thinking something of a gas saver that why i choose an i30 even thought it not true vip fwd and all that other jazz it still has that look and potentials to become 1 seen 1 on cardomain with the vip kit grill and such i would say it look real interesting haha it like a mini vip car. And that it engine is a nissan engine same from an a32 maxima i think right 190hp i should know as i previously own 2 maximas 94 & 95 and fixin it can be PITA but it can get you places. Oh yea i plan on taking it on road trips will just to another state and back i tend to go back and forth every other month or so. I mean the i30 is small compare to the ls400 with that V8! and on the long run i say the i30 will take me back home safe with no damage.

PS not hating on the ls400 or gs300 i would buy 1 if i find 1 for a reasonable price as i really do want 1 but without know how good the engine and the car itself or how hard it is to fix it i would be lost but maybe yah can give more info on these 2 and how reliable they are i may consider it....

$16 a week!?!!?! what, are you cryotreating your gas? hahaha.. i'm not one to complain about fuel economy because it's a small price to pay for having a LWB luxury car, but i'll just say that when i was working in scottsdale after i moved, i was paying $40 a day in gas. mind you i have to use at least premium as i have an imported S class with a high comp motor.. but still. $16 a week is amazing. props like WHOA!
