are you for comfort os lower stance

I finally got my springs in and I installed them myself in my driveway. Man it was hell. I was tired of bouncing everywhere with the s14 springs so I decided to go with Espirlir springs for the y33 instead. only a .5" difference.

I personally prefer lower stance. Otherwise my coilovers would be wound up 1-2" and not on the bumpstops. I drive my gf's stock echo if i want comfort & practicality...

Your stance looked good before, but i think it was just a case of being too low for stock struts. Even on bumpstops my ride is a hell of alot better than my accord which had 3" drop springs on stock struts
And people like zion and others with coilovers on their Y33s say that they have really good ride while sitting real low...

But you gotta do what you gotta do... :)

btw

the reason for the change in springs is when you have kids and your wife riding in your car, bouncing, huge tire rubbing fender and trying to play loud music, kinda dont mix. i will get my stance back in a bit but, for now, not working for me. I aint knocking all who do it but, my family gotta be comfortable.

I am on Tein S-tech and stock touring struts. I have had the springs on for maybe 6-8 months and my front struts have already started to go. For me personally the ride is too soft, the ride isn't too bad and not bouncy. I just prefer a stiffer ride and height adjustability. Being on springs is temporary, originally coilovers were the route I wanted to go with but I didn't have the funds at the time. Just waiting for funds and I will purchase some coilovers. I definately want to go lower.

i intentionally preety much bottomed out my tein flex's so i would be able to drive with my chassis lesss than 2 inches off the ground and not have excessive wheel up travel as to avoid my upper control arms hitting the body (which was happening with my jics) or the chassis bottoming out. Rides kinda crappy but i can drive over everything with no porblems. boston roads suck and i dont like driving slow. i sent my jic's back to be totally redone to be a whole lot stiffer for more body control. i prefer to be low and stiff as opposed to low and squishy. more problems that way. i just hate angling into a driveway only to lift a wheel and have my diff unload and get stuck!:bowrofl4wj:

Yeah man i was tired and just got creative. When I used to work at Nissan, I did it the hard way. Disconnecting the tie rod, the spindal, etc. Pain. Instead, compressed the springs, removed the bolts up top and pulled down. Worked out good. I am gonna be on the look out by next summer for some coilovers though. I do wanna ride low but low with comfort. Anything lower than what it was at the meet earlier this year at AutoFashion is better :shrug:Forum image

Thats why I said comfort first. If I didnt drive 7 days a week then I wouldnt care but having a rough ride gets to you when driving on bad roads all day. Makes you not want to drive

agreed. People at work and at the stop lights like it but when you bounce like a cut springed car with that much weight on the front. Man in the intersection, i hit a bump and i bounced like no other. Man my car looked good until that happens

yeah and I literally drive 7 days a week with it. It rides way smoother. I was cruising down the block and people still like it, especially since it dont bounce

Crappy suspension is bad. i.e. chopped springs with stock struts. But rock hard suspension is desirable when you have super tight fitment, or less than 1 inch under the framerails. Notice how many cars in the vip mags have coilovers vs air?

all of this leads back to what I've been persistently promoting from the start. It's all about the balance between stance and comfort.

to those who have been riding on s14-s13 with stock struts, le't cut the bullcrap please.

to those who can't tell if their struts are blown, let's cut the bullcrap please.

let's keep it real, and high end.

Coilovers wont give you comfort when you are slammed, and neither will air. Comfort is given by suspension travel. And when you are slammed (i mean really slammed, not just 2-3" lowered), anything more than 1" suspension travel means hitting the chassis on the ground

Any suspension that allows you to drive that low, will need to be extremely stiff to prevent you bottoming out on the road... so while you wont be 'bouncing', you will be feeling every single bump through the car.

that might be true but heck, here in san diego, you can bottom out in pretty much anything. Seen a 18 speed biker bottom out while making a right. :smiley-rofl:. I feel you on the riding lower and all but my goal is just to get it to be as low as it was with the s14 springs but less bouncy. As for air, yeah some air kits aren't high quality but airrunner and some uas set ups aren't that bad. aint felt no bouncin in my brother's car.
