NAVIGATION IN A 1ST GEN GS300

i searched and found nothing so i was wondering if lexus/toyota made any OEM or JDM navigation for the aristo. i would also like to know if its possible to put one in from the newer gs's and making it look OEM, has anyone done this?

Swapping in one from a 2GS is probably more trouble than it's worth since the dash is completely different anyway. My brother has a '94 GS3 that we're going to do a Nav unit in; we'll probably do one of the newer double-DIN Pioneer AVIC units and make a custom trim panel for it. I can't stand flip-out units in cars like this, they look so unfinished.

Supposedly there was a JDM trim panel kit for the 147 from Japan but I've never been able to find it. There is a trim kit/ISO-mount kit for the 161 chassis from Japan, which I have in my 161 GS; the color and texture are spot-on to the OE dash (of course, it's an OE Toyota Japan part!). 

I may be able to retrofit ISO-mount brackets from another Toyota model vehicle to work in the 147, but I haven't yet had the dash apart to determine this. Either way, it looks like it'll need some kind of custom trim panel to match the rest of the dash. Bummer!

Toyota makes a nice navi for camrys and a lot of people use those retro fitted into other cars..

it looks pretty oem for any car and they sell complete kits...
remmeber, u can always get a avid d3 or whatever for 1000 bucks
which plays dvd, navs, ipod input, aux input, and more..

that oem camry navi looks nice!! any ideas on installation prices?
P.S. found out 1st gen gs or aristo didnt come with navigation

I contemplated doing the double din when I was in the market for dvd/navi/mp3, but opted for the pioneer avic n2 dvd/navi/mp3 which has a detachable face. When I used to daily the car, it made me feel alot better knowing I could detach the face and carry it with me. Just a thought.

As for the 1st gen not having a navigation, 93-97, not many cars had navi. Navigation didn't become popular till 2001 where it was a factory upgrade if I recall.
