Removing emblems?

I'm thinking of taking off the Q45/infiniti emblems from my Y33 and was wondering if these things were drilled in? i.e. holes on the trunk or glued on? If anyone has removed their emblems and has a good way to do it please let me know. Thanks!

I also have the gold trim outside of my car including the antenna chrome piece. is there a way i can remove any of these gold trim or make it silver/chrome?

my 97 Q45 had two holes for the infiniti logo so i say you just leave it on or if you want get it shaved from a body shop but that costs lots of money plus respraying your whole trunk. but the Q45 and i-n-i-f-i-n-i-t-y badges were all glued on. just take a long string of dental floss and run it down behind the badges. i found it easier to take off by spraying some WD-40 and it worked like cherry. then get some "goo-gone" spray and wipe down the extra adhesive. :biggthumpup:  good luck!

Wait...the other thread said that the infiniti emblem didnt have holes...

mine had holes...and the 99-01 q's have a trunk bar that also have holes...you can get the nissan badge if you wanted to go the jdm route...it not, gotta body fill, primer and paint...
 
you need an atenna remover...slip it over the atenna and loosen the nut...and since you want to change the color, you prolly have to buy a new one...

to remove the emblems, use waxed floss...
 
to remove the double sided tape, use goo gone or wax and grease remover if you have some...easiest way though it to just use and eraser...then use cutting compund and buff if needed...

I always have used fishing line instead of floss. More durable IMO. Ive also just used wd40 as an adhesive remover on all my cars.

Ima give the wd40 a try, if that dosnt work, im gonna go with the 3m wax and adhesive remover. wd40 should work fine since i can almost peal most of it off.

Say its a touring model 98. Since it has the lil wing, you guys think it would still have holes?

Wait the other thread said that none of the 99- emblems have holes....?

I want to debadge it but now i'm scared because I can't get a straight answer haha.

Its already comfirmed that the Q45 dosnt have holes and the I N F I N I T I bar has holes for the 99s.

But im still lost about the Infiniti emblem itself..

all the models from 97-01 with or without the trunk spoiler have wholes for the actueal Infiniti logo emblem...the rest are double sided tape..
 
best way to remove them is to get a heat gun/ hair dryer and heat the emblems a little bit to get the 3m adhesive hot and loose..then get fishing wire or floss and remove them..then use a 3m adhesive remover since your taking off 3m tape...it works very very well and a little bit goes a very long way...
 
thats How I did mine and all my cars for a while now...My bro works at a very expensive paint and body shop and he is allways sharing thier tricks so that they do not destroy their customers vehicles....
 
If you try to take off the Infiniti logo emblem chances are you will pill or chip the paint off becuse those suckers are stuck on there real good..and you have to think about the age of the car and paint...

I am going to be removing all badges except the logo until my car goes in for a respray then every badge will come off.

Okay sooo on my 97 Q the "Q45" did not have holes

The I-N-F-I-N-I-T-I did NOT have holes

I didn't attempt them Infiniti SYMBOL

k, everythings cleard up. Only the infiniti badge has holes.
