Factory hydraulics on my President?

I thought it was after market, but now i found this:

on the top of the struts, excactly like my President. Looks very factory to me?


then i found this:

it says air controller on the unit, but no idea what the advert says lol

So is it air or hydraulic? 

Remember that hydraulic relates to using oil as a function of height adjustment as opposed to a pneumatic suspension which relies solely on "air."  Even hydraulic cars use nitrogen-filled accumulators as a means of suspension; all the hydraulic part does is raise or lower the vehicle.

My guess is it's an air-type suspension. The only cars I know to use factory hydraulic suspension are Citroen and Mercedes (although I am sure there are more).

I know a user with twin presidents who has that same  controller on his car here in cali. Anyone care to chime in?

Yeah its hydro, and it makes it a PITA to replace with coilovers. The height controllers on yahoo only give you 4cm or so lowering, and the rest is positive (raised) adjustment...

so those controllers arent really that usefull? i want to be able to drive it on the lowest it will go.

also, it raises quick, but lowers down terribly slow, as in: takes 5 mins. anyway to make that go quicker?

Well, this being a hydraulic setup, it might be possible to manipulate it to your fancy. 

If I can get some tech diagrams of the setup, maybe I can see if things can be tweaked with it...

excactly what i thought, there has to be some wires telling the pump to go on or something, im having a look next week. pulling front bumper off again and tracing the pipes etc
