is Tubbing my only option? (slammed sc300)
slammed my SC300 and now the top on my tire keeps making serious contact with the fender well frame and the slightest dip or imperfection in the road really takes its toll. The top of my tire treads are getting shredded.
I cannot lower the car any more due to this. I have literally 1/2" clearance between my tread surface and the frame.
Any suggestions?

small profile tire? need more information.... pictures, anything. I dont understand how your shredding tire, have you checked the inner well for exposed studs that would hold on fender liners? Because rubbing in the rear wont shred if its tucking, something is protruding out, cutting into the tire.

no exposed studs..just an annoying section of sheet metal that protrudes downward and cuts unto my tire. i actually cut it out, and banged away at the sharp edges left with a hammer in hopes of flattening any sharp edges, but thats just not enough.
currently running 35 series on 19's.

new coils entirely with a spring rate over 20 will help..can you hammer it any flatter? tub might is definitely the BEST option, but new coils might help.

youre not even that low honestly, problem is your tires are way too big and it looks like they are hitting the actual fender

19x9.5 +20, but I don't see how that matters since tires aren't scrubbing fenders.

Thanks. I've just about hammered the hell out of the entire fender well (with a focus on the upper frame), so don't think hammering with give me any more clearance. That's kinda why my next thought was tubbing them.
and new coilovers are in the near future,

U think a 225/35 tire stretched on a 9.5 is "way too big"? There's only so much tire width I can sacrifice.
What size would u recommend then??( Keep in mind I'm driving 3500+lb car). If u don't really understand what I'm talking about, then please don't give input.

Go to a 30 series sidewall you'll gain an inch.
Also switch to real coils, any coilover that has no dampening adjustability is a joke.
But some stiff and switch to smaller tires.

yup, get some better coilovers. You can find something for about $1000 im guessing and sell your current set up to recoup some money. You can tub too. Im sure a muffler shop can cut it and bend a plate to weld in there. But Im sure if you do that, the subframe will be on the ground then you will need a skid plade and raised exhaust....Buy the coilovers and go from there.

Running 30 series is trouble, you have a higher chance of messing up your wheels. I'd get better coils.

this is on BC coils with stock spring rates, and i could of gone lower then this just wasnt a big fan of scraping while turing.

Yup, BFG tires run fatter that most tires I've used, even with the same tire size. Best bet is run a 235/35 on a different brand of tires, maybe nexxen or continental... definitely get a new set of coil overs..

^ I'm with BAHC. The only way you can gain clearance is 30 series tires, tubbing, or notching the frame rail.
Coilovers will not do anything, height is not the problem, its clearance.
Time to go 18s.

I have roughly 8mm of clearance between tire sidewall and fenders so no scrubbing whatsoever when I turn. Top of my tire tread occassionally rubs upper frame, that's about it. And that's what this thread is all about. Once I tub the fronts, I'll be good. I refuse to raise a car once I lower it. If I don't foresee a problem, I adjust to the consequences and then address them accordingly .

Not sure if you are running 225/35/19 or 235/35/19
I ran 19x9.5 +2 on my SC400 with 225/35/19 Falken ST115 which are known to run small. No problems but looks like you are lower. I wonder if more neg camber would help.
Good luck with the tubbing

My buddy ran in to the same scenario. He was unable to run 19's and be slammed since he was hitting, so his choices were 19's with a lip kit or 18's slammed w/no lip kit. He wanted to be slammed w the stock body, so he picked up a set of 18's instead. Like everyone said here, stiffer suspension or tubbing would work too. Either way I cant wait how your set up turns out. Good luck

thanks. and yeah, i dont really like the aftermarket body kits for this car, so all i did was add oem 97+ side skirts and will soon be adding an oem '97 rear bumper wich is a bit lower. its def gonna be stock body on 18's.
